Vehicles vs suprise

Alright, I dont know if this has been posted before, but... Doesn't it seem logical that valve promised a surprise, and in the aztec lever there are jeeps just sitting there. Can you say foreshadowing. Watch, in next few updates vehicles will be here.
 
I guess we will need new maps before we get vehicules... because none of the current maps are large enough for jeeps or tanks...
 
Yeah, it seems to me that CS was just not designed to include vehicles. The maps are just not large enough or open enough.
 
yeah, but there are only like 6 or so maps. I think we can expect more, and diff types of maps at that

Pluss i dont think they would have them in aztec w/o some possible reason
 
Can someone please reference this "surprise" thing for me? I've been hearing about it since I joined up here, but have never seen a link, and I can't find anything but speculation via the forum search.

I really would appreciate it, thanks :).
 
I think CS is going to do what DC should have been. Open, vehicular maps, close combat maps, and the distinctive difference between the two - a much better netcode.

Vehicles in CS would effectively crank up the idiocy therein to a fever pitch and would introduce a new happy family of cheats and exploits. I hope vehicles are never introduced.

You do know they could just be there for looks or something? I mean, the original Counter-Strike Office map had an APC in it.
 
Actually dust could probably hold a vehicle. Maybe a lightly armored tank like a Bradley or something for the CTs. Then give the Ts an RPG and make the objective to take it out. It would be better to develop separate, more open maps for them though.

I don't think tank combat is the way to go. I would like things like helicopters to transport CTs, technicals for the Ts, etc. so that the focus stays on smaller conflicts.

Even if Valve doesn't add it in, you can be sure that there will be many maps with vehicles.
 
Can you say "Counter-strike 2"?
Yes, there's a console command for vehicles in CSS, but that's probably HL2.
I really doubt VALVe would add something as silly as that - SMT was right.
 
I still dont think "tanks" in aztec would make sense, unless there was a bigger reason
 
well the tanks in aztec werent really a suprise it was known looooong ago already that they were there.

and vehicles would suck in cs
 
??? There ARE vehicles in CS.

i.e.

tie fighters
tanks
machine guns (can't really move, but it can shoot and whatnot)
blimps
hang gliders
cars
planes
gocarts
scooters
construction equipment
etc.

One map I played had a HUGE vehicle, it was like 3 stories tall and had caterpillar treads; reminded me of the technodrome (sp?) from the Teenage Ninja Turtles. It was so funny when it ran people over, every round was a desperate race to gain control of it.

Unless you guys are talking about putting vehicles in "normal" maps like dust or nuke, in which case you guys are crazy. Just make your own map whenever the map creating tools come out.
 
What the bloody heck are you yapping about? Which map is that in?! :rolling:
 
I remenber I play a map of CS whit vehicules

There are a lot of maps that have vehicles in normal, vanilla CS. You need to play more custom maps, obviously...

i.e. the variety of versions of star wars, walmart, airninja I've seen, seem to be be the most popular.
 
Yeah but those vehicles suck and aren't any fun. Now that the HL2 engine supports vehicles we will see much better versions of those maps.
 
lol which was the map with the two planes that you could control? And as soon as they moved half the players inside them were killed? That map was classic.

starwars map? the big vehicle in the middle with the gates?
 
some of the new HL2 single player maps have vehicular readiness :)

still hoping the suprise is the HL2 core multiplayer.

then there should be jeep mayhem atleast.

I don't remember you being able to control the planes, then again, i don't think i ever tried
 
Adding vehicles to cs would be rather shite :/

(a new game designed with vehicles in mind would be nice though)
 
I hope someone makes a de_jeepathon2k map where each team gets a buggy (from HL2) and has to run over the other team before hostages are rescued or the bomb is planted on the toilet. This would certainly be the best custom map ever.
 
Can I just chime in to say that the jeeps at ct spawn of aztec are most likely there because:

a: They're in HL2
b: They look cool
c: Why the hell not...

DC being what? Desert Combat?

The toilet should be destructable so when someone is planting you can run them over with the jeep and send parts of the toilet flying along with them.
