MAJOR Overheating PROBLEM! Need help fast!

im on my dads computer right now because ever since i started playing halflife2 on my computer its had overheating problems, and now i have reason to believe that halflife2 has killed my CPU. earlier today it shutdown with a beep when my cpu overheated playing HL2 it had a last reported temp of 73 C, thats like 165 farenheit! It wont start even in safemode, and the CPU fan that used to spin at 2600RPM now spins at 1100. On top of all that, none of my fans are working except for 2 the gfx card, and the processor, the remaining 4 (2 in power supply, one back, one side) will not work. I need help right away, and ys it is currently turned off. It is a Intel Pentium 4 R 2.4Ghz

73 isnt enough to kill it, i would guess (i dont know too much about intel chips). I know it takes way more than that, probably over 100 to damage an amd so i wouldnt worry about that. If the fans are connected directly to the power supply then that must be the problem. Was it a qtec? Theyre known for blowing. Try replacing the power supply.. and maybe get a surge protector or something.

idk if this would help but you could try reseting the cmos.

Its average temp was 45C or about 114F, and the power supply is an Antec 330 watt, and everything was working perfectly fine (fans too) before i started playing HL2

PS i do have a surge protector, and i have tried resetting cmos, with no effect.

If it shot up that high from the 45C then something failed. I would guess your CPU fan is not working right although your powersupply could have blown too.

Does the Powersupply fan turn when you hit the power button on for the PC? I would also try reseting the CMOS jumper on the board (check manual). Always check the power cords and make sure they are plugged in snug. Also make sure none of them are burnt. ;)

Yes i know how to restart CMOS, and i already have. It gos to the point where it says "Were sory but windows did not start up properly, pick the way that you would like to start windows" it had Safe Mode, Safemode with networking, Safemode with Commands, Start with last good configurations, and Start Windows normally. None of them work, they just lead to it looping back around, and asking the same thing, so basicaly what im saying is it wont load windows.

PS the power supply fans and case fans arent working, but the CPU and gfx card fans are working

If you're PS fan is broken, then your PS is probably shot, IMHO. If you can get to your BIOS, check the voltage it's giving you.

Put in the power supply from your other system and see what happens.

If the fans in the case do not turn then the 12volt rail might bad and without a fan to cool the PSU it will overheat and could blow.
