Very dark images with Radeon 9550

Hi there,
I can't understand why with my Radeon 9550 Half Life 2 is visualized very very dark, so dark that it's unplayable. I tried different versions of drivers, but it couldn't help.


Any help? Thanks

I don't understand why, but i can't take screenshots with F5 (default key). By the way, I don't think it's essential: just imagine the image so dark that you can only see the brightest part of it. For example: in the first chapter, at the station, I can only see the big screen with the professor face on it. The rest i totally or almost totally BLACK!
And this with internal hl2 brightness set to the max

When I got my new GeForce6600, I noticed that Barney's room was much darker than it used to be also.

Could be your actual monitor contrast settings. Make sure your monitor has normal settings for contrast and brightness.

Just do it for me please, so I can see (firsthand) what it is that you're talking about.

I took the screenshot, but it's useless: they are bright! In game it's dark, in the screenshots is all normal...


And NO, it's not the monitor settings The monitor works fine in ANY other circustance (games, windows, dvd).

If the contrast and brightness are as high as possible, maybe your monitor is naturally dark.

My point exactly. If your monitor/game/graphic card, gamma/contras are set to default, when you take ss things look OK, then I don't know what else to tell ya.

Exactly. It's incredible! Using powerstrip I can raise brightness with an hotkey, and it kinda works! By the way I still don't know what the hell is the problem :|
