Very laggy help please

Alright i have basicly brand new dell demension e310....

1 gig of ddr2
128 mb grapics card onboard
HT

and when i try to play counter-strike:source or half-life 2 man is it laggy , It freezes for about 1 second , un freezes , Then keeps on doing that...

Is there any ways i can fix this without buying a better grapics card?

Ive also put every video setting (in game) on low and it still acts the same.

I want to play EP one so bad , But before i buy it i want to get this resolved...

jsut because its new doesnt mean it will be great. also when you say " 128 mb grapics card onboard" do you mean a physical card with 128mb onboard memory or is it an integrated card(on the motherboard) with 128mb.

The card is onboard.

then that would be your problem. you will need to buy a video card. im guessing you either have pci-e or just pci slots so could you confirm what you have.

Pci slots , And the grapics card is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.

there are no commands or software that would really improve the game. ive played source on an integrated card before and it was horrible. considering you only have a pci slot;the best card you will be able to get is a geforce 6200.

and i will be able to play half-life 2 on this ? In good quality?

Actually the best PCI card available is the Radeon x1300. It just came out recently. There probably won't ever be a PCI card better than this one.

Also, make sure you aren't running a lot of programs in the background while you're playing a game. That can slow things down a lot.

medium to high quality. i played its on a 5700le 1024x768 with the recommended settings it gave me.
