ok my brother will be getting a cheap stick of 256 mb ram..porbably some generic brand or something...he also wants a new video card but wants it really really cheap..he is looking to spend maybe like 30-40 on some memory and maybe 30-40 on a pci video card...now all he wants is the video card to run cs 1.6 better then what the integrated graphics is doing...(its so bad he gets like 10-30 fps with everythign at the lowest and the lowest resolution)

So does anyone have any suggestions....plz no save $900 and get a new system, because he is not a big gamer at all...thanks

celeron 2.7 ghz
256 mb ram pc2700
integrated graphics
40 gig hd

Another stick of 256mb ram is a good idea, as for a video card for $40 I think you could find an ATi Radeon 9200 somewhere, that's your best bet.

If he's limited to PCI graphics cards due to lack of an AGP slot he's got a very limited choice. Pretty much all PCI cards are terrible but at least a little better than intel onboard graphics BUT you will have to spend about $80 still or you will be better of sticking with the intel onboard graphics.

Ouch, Radeon 7000 that really is the best they have for $40. Even the refurbished section doesn't have anything better that's not $80. If you want to spend $60 you could get a 9200SE but they're bad, a normal 9200 is much better.

Not much better... its a DX8 part.
