help!! my lcd monitor is not receiving signal from the pc. i changed my new psu to an old one cuz i thought that my speed of 1.3 ghz can be changed back to 2.2 ghz but that didn happened so i switched it back to the orginal. i connected everything back but i couldn get the display to show the screen. i checked the pins on the lcd monitor cable and there are only 14 pins, instead of 15... i dun remember breaking the missing pin....what to do?

Some monitor plugs (VGA and DVI) have 1 or a few missing pins since they are not all used. I doubt you broke a pin.

Does your PC beep at all? See if you can figure out what the beep code means for your board. Check your manual.
Just make sure that your powersupply has the red switch on the back set to 115 volts (US) and NOT 230 volts. You may need to reset the Cmos on your motherboard with the jumper (check your manual for how to).

If no beep then there is something basic going wrong here. Either it isn't all getting power or a part isn't seated all the way (like memory or gfx card). Take cards out and put them back in so the contacts are touching.

As you've been swapping out PSUs, make sure that both the 20 pin and the 4 pin 12v connector are attached, it could display those symptoms if you forgot the 4 pin. I'm not sure what you meant about changing PSUs to affect the speed, that seemed a little ill-advised.

yea....the PSU is not related to speed increases/decreases in your processor....what exactly was wrong with your comp and what were you trying to fix?

after i got a new case and new gpu, my processor speed dropped from 2.167ghz to 1.3 ghz. its kinda weird and im surprised that most athlon xp cpus do this. i was at the AMD forums and they said that i should change the psu back to the original. i did that but nothing happened. i changed the bus multiplier to 166mhz *13 but no change. *sigh* i kinda gave up fixing that pc... im gonna do it afterwards, once the poland vs ecuador match is over.... i think i must have place something at the wrong spot from one of the wires from the psu. there was once that had 4 small openings. im not sure where that went. its not the molex, its 4 openings that form a rectangle...

The FSB must have reset. The Athlon XP 3000+ should have a 166MHz bus speed (333 is the rating). It looks like it got set to 100MHz instead.
166x13 = 2158Mhz
100x13 = 1300MHz

You said you chainged the bus mutiplier like it should be. How did that not change it? I don't think it has much to do with your powersupply except maybe it reset it from being plugged in and out. It won't control the speed though.

Changing the bios settings is really the only way. Check your Cmos reset jumper and make sure it is not in the reset position...

dude, my bios sucks. its an emachines and it wont let me change anything... i reset the cmos but i still cant get the display to work...its not on the reset position fyi..

once im done with my ACT tmr, im gonna ask my dad if i could upgrade. i hate emachines!!!
