VIA chipset and AMD Athlon 64 3200

I know these cause a problem with the game. Steam recommended I update the chipset drivers. I did update the 4in1 drivers, but viatech.com is down, do I need something else from there, or is it just the 4in1?

The game stops responding when I start it up. I get the dude with the valve in his eye, then the screen changes the the blurred scene, and hangs. Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

Actually I noted this morning that HL2 was only 70% downloaded. I came home after school, and PRESTO!! It works. It looked like it was done downloading, but wasn't.
