Okay, after finally hiring Vice City for the 100th time, I've finally saved up some money to buy it. I head down to EB Games, and feel the cash in my pocket. And then I arrive and see the PC version and the PS2 version both the same price ! :rolling:

So, naturally I go to gamefaqs.com, and look at the reviews there on both PC and PS2. Guess what ? Both are around the same ratings. So now I come to you guys for your opinions .....

I know PC has Multi-Theft-Auto, but I'm afraid that it may have some control problems, as I don't have a gamepad. The PS2 version (the one I've hired numerous times) has the controls, but no multiplayer ....

So, which do I get and why ?
Thanks !

:dozey: The main thing PC version has- A MOUSE, which gives you bes accuracy when using shooting, is better to use when looking around as well. Not to mention graphics CAN be better on PC depending on what you have. If you were me you would go for the PC.

You should get the PC version, because it is so much better in so many ways.

Better gfx on the pc, and the ability to play your own mp3's :)

Better gameplay on the PS2, imo. The GTA series has always been more suited to a joypad and a big tv :) driving with a mouse and keyboard blows :/ GTA isn't a game that requires super fast aiming, so a mouse isn't needed, or beneficial.

(The Xbox double pack is easily the best version - having superior gfx to the pc, mp3's, and the best gameplay :))

Thats why I got a converter for my old ps1 controller. GTA is slightly more enjoyable with a joypad, plus with some hacks I've done I get force feedback ;)

The PS2 is a lot more fun. I've played both and I like the PS2 one more.

I've got it on PC and PS2. The Multi-Theft Auto is a mod and is not really fun. Laggy and full of bugs. Its hard to play on PC, since the controls are frustrating, especially for the helicopter!; some missions are impossible to do on PC such as "Demolition Man" with the frustrating control. The good things about PC version is you can add your own tracks to the radio station, loading times are very short and you can mod it.

PS2 - The controls are incredibly easy and well set-out. Having a bigger screen gives it more GTA feel and stunts/ tricks are easier to pull off on PS2 version. Theres more of a feeling of a freedom in PS2. Bad things about PS2 is the loading times are ridicolously longer, thats all I can really think at the moment.

Overall, I would go for the PS2 (I'm more of a PC fanboy aswell). Hope it helps.

Well i've got it on my xbox (and pc), and i would say it's more challenging and longer-lasting on the xbox than the pc, the mouse makes it too easy for me. But i've got a cool mod for the pc one, so thats a plus for the pc version

PC version for sure, the mouse and keyboard add another element (in my opinion). Nothing better than riding along with some of your favourite music blasting at full volume, either. Plus VC on the PC has tons of mods.

Graphically, the xbox version is the best. Yes, it's EVEN better than the pc version.

Rockstar revamped the car models and a whole lot of stuff for the xbox version, the pc version offers the highest resolutions but still is inferior to the xbox one, and the ps2 has too many AA problems, although it released before the rest.

The PS2 version definitely, much more fun to play.

After playing the mission where you have to blow up the building with the little helicopters, I'd say: PS2!

The controls were SO frustrating, and this is the same for all choppers.

Game faq's is always biased to consoles. Get the PC version.

PC version is so much better, simply because you can play it and watch a DVD at the same time :)

Oh and the graphics are better. Gun's are aimed by you (not the console), and its generally more fun.

yeh PC,, you dont have to wait for 30 seconds on those anoying loading screens,, its more like half a second. :)

bah - controlling GTA with a mouse and keyboard is so inferior to a decent joypad :p Plus, if you want the version with the best gfx, you'll have to get GTA on the XBox :)

naaa, GTA on the X-box doesnt have as good graphics as on the PC... trust me. i have an uber(ish) machine and it runs it perfectly with practically no lading times and way better graphics than the PS2.

but then again, i have completed it once on the PS2 and almost once on the PC.. and i must say bot are fabulous. id probally say PC though... theres just that tiny little bit more you can do (e.g. edit files and play yyour own music on the stations etc).

ironically i was playing it last night, which was the first time i have played it scince febuary... (my saves told me that :) )

Well - textures and models were improved for the Xbox version (if only slightlly)

Playing on a big tv more than makes up for the lower res - in comparison, GTA on a monitor feels almost like micro machines.

None of this really matters tho, GTA is a great game on all platforms :)

Incorrect. I have both GTA: Vice city for PC and Xbox, and the Xbox version has actually recieved a face lift by Rockstar. The Textures are much sharper than the PC version, because they have been re-done. You can totally make that out. The car models also look fantastic.

I've played it with PC and PS2 controls (since I have a Dual shock controller for my PC :)), and I gotta say I prefer the PC. Not to mention MP3s although the game does have a fantastic soundtrack.

That doesn't count ;) The pc version of GTA isn't designed to be played with a joypad.

Then why did it work? Seems to me it was designed to do that just fine. I was disappointed my wheel and pedals didn't work though.

Well - it needs the correct sesnitivity and auto aim for a start.

You could play Halo on the pc with an XBox joypad - but it wouldn't be half as good.

i thought he just meant that the x-box had better graphics because its "pr0" or something. i hope they do that for san andreas PC version :)

Lol. You guys have him all confissled. Some say PC, some say PS2, some say Xbox. :(

get all 3, it will make you happy :)

pc m8, and next time when you make thread like this one, do not forget the POLL to vote in.

thx

A mod should add a poll so it'll be easier to see what the people think.

if you choose the ps2 version:you will hav best graphic if your computer is not the best, also in ps2 in a litle more fun really, also that dont need to care about spec's cuz the ps2 works fine
if you choose the pc version:you will hav more "interactiviti" whit the control, a example is the use of the mouse to aim, also you can make litle modifications of the game like change the skin of you character, also are the spec's ( but if you hav a very good pc dont need to care much about it)

or why not buy the bots version

The PS2 version has great gameplay with a controller.
But...
The PC version also has great gameplay with a keyboard and mouse and if you would rather use a controller you can buy one. If you have a good PC and graphics card then you can enjoy it with higher detail, draw distances and settings.
The PC version is not as-is. You can play Mp3s as radio stations and modifiy it in so many ways.
Add player skins, change models for cars and buildings etc. There are many mods for the city buildings and decals that you can change.
Modify the car properties in the handle.cfg file. Awesome possibilites.

Get it on the ps2, they arnt many games at the moment for the ps2 so If someone is using the pc or you feel like using the ps2 then you can.
Also Imo VC is sorta short so installing it instead of just storing save files on memory card is a bit counter productive

PC version definately.

One part i can remember - you are in a chopper and you are the gunner and you have to kill alot of people out of the moving chopper...well...on the ps2 this took me a f'ucking long time, on the pc it is much easier without a control pad. Control pad ---> racing games.

Multitheft auto is crap imo..it is so buggy but then again, it is pretty heavily modified as its a singleplayer only game so i get its ok in a sense.
