Ummm... you do realize that any real-time video capturing software that you run on your computer will greatly lower your FPS, right?
Fraps isn't crap. Capturing in-game video takes alot of horsepower.

Now, if you had a seperate computer capturing the video, then you'd be fine. But both playing the game and capturing is heavy on system resources.

ok then how do all those other people make good running videos?
i dont have a crap computer so its not like i cant run all the latest and greatest games
i run hl2 at about 50 fps so.......................
any suggestions?

well FYI, people can run it at 120fps and still get choppy recording. Your going about it wrong.

You don't record your video while you play, you record a demo in low detail mode while you play, then play that back with all the bells and whistles and at a decent resolution, outputting per frame, and also outputting the audio separately. Then you take all those frames and the audio and convert them to either a bink or an mpeg.

For example, you can run Doom3 at its lowest settings, with everything turned off, playing at a good framerate, recording a demo. Then put all the settings to max, the resolution as high as your PC will allow, playback and record frame by frame from that, giving you however many frames per second you want. Then post it and everyone will think you have a super amazing PC.. that is if they don't know how to do that themselves, and everyone knows.

So you don't need anything special, record a demo and output to frames, get binktools to convert to a bink or smacker file.
