Video card drivers

I have been having troubles with Doom 3(I can only run it for a few minutes before my screen turns into a checkers board, screen is off center), would getting the newest drivers help? Or is it too soon? I also heard somewhere that installing new drivers is a pain to do because it resets all your settings. And I don't know how I would go about installing them...I have to delete my old drivers first? How?

Here are the instructions on how to uninstall your old drivers and install the new drivers.

If the 4.7's don't solve your problem, try the 4.9 beta's. They have fixed the majority of ATI problems with Doom 3 and provide a nominal speed increase too.
