I hear you. :)

I've always tried to keep my video card upgrades appropriate:

8mb Voodoo 2 >> 16mb Voodoo 3 >> 32mb GeForce 2 MX >> 64mb GeForce 2 Ultra >> 128mb Radeon 9800 Po

wow, rec, nice jump at the end there.

nvidia riva 128 >> nvida Geforce >> Geforce 3 >> 128 Radeon 9800 pro.

interestingly, both my geforces were the originals (ie the bad ones, lol). So my geforce didn't have ddr, and my geforce 3 was before the whole Ti500 things.

Nvidia Vanta 8MB -> GeForce 3 64MB -> GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB (broke it) -> GeForce 3 64MB -> Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB -> ?

3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 > 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 > Geforce 2 MX 400 > Radeon 9500 Pro

I was forced to go the GF2 route since the 5500 no longer supported future games and hardware due to 3DFX's downfall.

Intel i810 Chipset 8MB > Radeon 7000 64MB DDR > Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB DDR

Chipset sucks :D

Riva TNT 32MB ----> Geforce2 MX 400 64MB (SUCK!!)

Radeon 9800Pro here i come!! =)

Gefore 2 MX 400 --> Gefore 4 MX 420 --> Geforce 4 ti 4600 --> Ati radeon 9800 pro 128 mb --> Ati radeon 9800 pro 256 mb :)

Voodoo1>Geforce3>9800 Pro

I tend to wait a bit before upgrading, but the jump from Voodoo1 to a Geforce3 was delicious.

Intel Something 1mb (guess) -> Riva 128 4mb -> Geforce 256 DDR 32mb -> 9700 Pro 128mb

I have to long between upgrades I think :)

Intel 18i0 onboard > TNT2 32mb, Geforce MX 4 440 > Radeon 9500 softmodded to 9700

ATI 3D rage pro (onboard) 2MB!!! > SiS onboard >Ati radeon 9000 pro > Ati radeon 9600pro

TNT > GeForce 2 mx 400 > Geforce 4 mx 400 :( > GeForce 4 Ti 4200 > Radeon 9800 pro 128mb.

voodoo3 (ahh, that was a beautiful day), geforce4 ti4400, radeon 9800 pro.

(Voodoo1 --> TNT2) <-- family computer, as soon as the Geforce256pro 32DDR arrived I bought my own comp. Aiming for a 9800pro or XT now.
Cant believe how good my geforce256 has been theese last 4 years. GTA:VC was no problem at all. Didnt look very different from a 9700 either. :D

Except the fact that you can increase the resolution...
BTW if you didnt reinstall GTA after you u put a 9700 in there...i would (keep your saved games though delete the gta_vc.set file that holds settings/system info).
When you install it, it detects your card and compresses the textures acording to your card. Should look better on a 9700 then.

Ati Rage PRoII AIW Pro (8meg) >> Voodoo2 16meg (yowsers!) >> GeForce2 GTS 32Meg >> GeForce 4Ti 4400 128Meg >> Next card, possably ATi 9800 of some kind.

:)

Next after the R300, I beleive the original Geforce chip with the DDR memory is the best graphics card ever designed. Its amazing how fast it was. Fun to see someone else apprecieting the good old speedbeast (a speedbeast it was, much more than the FX in comparison) :)

pci mx 220 geforce 2> agp radeon 7500 AIW> agp radeon 9800 PRO

voodoo 3 > Geforce 2 MX400 > geforce 4 ti4200 > Geforce FX 5900 256mb > Ati Radeon 9800 pro 128mb.

Ati mach64 -> S3 "something crappy" -> canopus pure3d voodoo (6mbs or ram!) -> creative labs Riva TNT (16mb) -> Elsa Geforce DDR (32mb) -> Ati Radeon 9000pro (128mb) -> Ati All in wonder 9800pro (128mb)

errrr some win3.1 card, prob 1MB>Intel i810 Chipset 8MB> Geforce 4 mx 420 > (soon) 9800 pro

8mb build in intel > gf2 32mb pci> ti4200 > ti4600

rage 128 > geforce 2 mx/mx 400 64mb > Radeon 9500 Pro

How do you like these jumps
Intel 1mb on motherboard -> Matrox G400 16mb -> Radeon 9800 PRO 256mb DDR-II :eek:
I think I beat everyone on jumps

"what's windows?" => integrated intel 815 graphics => TNT =>GeForce 2 MX ("Gee that-was-a-stupid-upgrade Force) =>Radeon 9700 Pro.
