first of all is there a such thing as an x800xt non-platinum edition?

if so, whats the differences between the two?

Ive seen some on sites and only difference I can see is who sells them, some companies call them the PE some just x800 XT. But I could be wrong ;)

x800 xt - PCi Express card
x800 xt pe - AGP card

I think that is the major distinction between the two.

im sure the PE is the pci express one, just becasue it is the "platinum edition." even if it's not, they all have they're AGP versions, and they will all have PCIexpress versions too.

whats the difference between agp and pci? is there better framerates and graphics? is there a difference between the stats of these cards(cant think of the word for it.)?

oh, its just that mobo makers may start switching to PCI-express instead of AGP slots. They may be faster down the road than AGP but with the new cards and stuff getting the AGP will still do you fine for a long time. Plus right now your selection of PCI-E mobos and vid cards are very limitted.

the platinum edition will be available in AGP and PCIe flavours.... however the non platinum card is PCIe only...

so right now, the platinum edition and the normal one will give the same performance?!

maybe but ones PCi-E and one is AGP. if you are thinking about getting PCI-E GFX and MoBo chipsets, DO NOT. wait at least a year cause the hardware will be shitty and there will be problems.

BTW, whats your Avatar from? it looks so familiar

I have a X800XT PE for AGP :)

from the Ati site:

AGP bus configuration (8X/4X/Universal AGP 3.0):
RADEON X800 PRO and
RADEON X800 XT PLATINUM EDITION.

PCI Express™ bus configuration:
RADEON X800 XT
RADEON X800 XT PLATINUM EDITION

Interesting, there are also X800 XT (non PE) for AGP on the market but that isn't stated at this site. <-- or they probably mean ATi manufactors instead of Sapphire, Asus etc.

The X800XT PE is running on a slightly higher gpu and memory ratings. Nothing more, nothing less.

There is a performance diff. but I don't think that will be very high
