Video card help

this has been happening for a while now randomly whyile play any type of game. It will lock up until i either close the program or minimize it than go back....i have the latest drivers from ati (i have a 9800 xt) and the same thing happend with my old card 9600, any suggestions to stop this? and my brother now uses the 9600 and it hasnt happend once to him

if the same thing happened to your old card, then maybe its not a video card problem? check your temperatures, and try closing every program/process you can before running games.
