Video Card issues

I'm working on an ANCIENT comp for a friend, it seems like every time I switch the colour and resolution from 16 colours and 640X320 to something else (ex 16 bit and 800x600) that it needs to restart, so it reboots and then it boots back up in the old, bad resolution/colour. Any idea? The card in an on-board Intel 810/815

Try updating the drivers. That should solve the problem if it is not hardware related.
