I've been recieving problems in games like this (See Image) for the longest time, I was wondering if someone could help me fix these problems?

It's not specific to any game. It should be noted that I am running on Windows Vista Business, using latest ATi Drivers (It's been happening with all driver versions though).
My card is an ATi Radeon X1900 GT

Have you overclocked your card? What temperature does it run at? It may be too hot.

Card is not overclocked, and currently it is running at about 58C.
Hopefully that is a fine temperature to be running at, I have like, 5 fans in my giant case.

Seems like something is corrupt. Could be overheating core or memory. Or the card is bad. 58C doesn't seem too hot (for a GPU) @ idle.

Try underclocking to see if those go away?

GPU jumps up to 80-84 C while under full load.
I think it's the temperature, it happened on an older card I had too (Actually newer, I replaced it because of this problem, The old card is a Radeon X1900 XTX). It also happens a few minutes after playing a game.

Kinda odd to be the temperature, I have a full server size case, a butload of fans, running on a barely overclocked CONROE which shouldn't be too hot. I wonder why it jumps up that high while under load? Is it normal?

Yes, mine jumps to as high as 90 only in bioshock, 80 for most others.

Okay, so if it isn't the temperature anyone got any ideas on how to test for other problems?

I'm thinking of trying to stick my card into the other PCI-Express Card Slot (Yes, its a x16), and seeing if that fixes it.

80-90 underload is "somewhat" normal for newer cards (I Hope).

This is a kind of blind and wild shot; see if vertical sync is on or off and turn either on or off. sometimes monitor has lot to do with corrupted graphic than the graphic card itself.

Good Luck.

I would guess that it has something to do with the thermal compound on the GPU die or memory chips. Maybe it's got bad composition, or maybe it's not spread evenly, or there could be an air pocket. Something causing a small area of the die or memory to slowly overheat and corrupt the visuals, but leaving the card functioning overall.

~85 C is the damage point for CPUs depending on the model.
I've read ~115 is for GPU dies. Not sure why the difference.

Actually, sometimes the graphic card overheating is not the cause. The reason why I know artifacts are not always temperature related is due to the fact I am using watercooling. When that has happened to me, I just reinstalled the game in hopes the textures would not be corrupted again. However since you said it was not game specific, I'm not sure what to tell you. :/

V-Sync did not help get this problem to go away.

I don't see how it could be a faulty card, it was installed in another system and worked just fine.

It COULD be a faulty card, but that means I have gotten 2 faulty cards in a row, which are off warranty by now.

I'm attempting to rollback drivers now, it could be a problem with the drivers and Vista? I'll post back if it fixes it.

EDIT: Oh, and I ran the Artifacting Test on ATiTools, and it detected no faults or artifacts, but the screen very slowly filled up with yellow dots.

Also turn your Anti virus software off, uninstall older driver first and reboot, install new driver.
Checking your PSU integrity, efficiency and cables would help.

Good Luck.

I'm leaning to the problem on being Vista related.
I never had this problem on Windows XP.

Really hurts like F!@#K.

Didn't have to move and U did.

XP has never done you harm!!! yet, U still walkout on her.

Reinstalled onto XP, and I installed ATi Tools. Noticed my Core was automatically overclocked so I clocked it back down, and clocked down the memory from 594 to 550 MHz.
I think the real problem was the fans though, I overrided the fan control to go at 100% over 80C, and 70% over 70C and it's staying at a steady 70C, no more artifacts.
