I currently have a 9600 np and i want to upgrade my graphics card
I really want to get a 9800 pro but i cant becasue my PSU is only 230W so i cant get one of those.

What is the best card possible that doesnt use a direct connection to the PSU like the 9800 (doesnt matter if its ATI or NVIDIA)?

Would this 9600XT be the best?? I mean the memory is already oced so all i would have to do is oc the core?

you do know the new generation of cards is coming out very, very soon...right?

I don't think his powersupply can handle the new generation of cards.

:) Invest!! I see 550 Watt power supplies for $100 from Antec!! I got my 420 Watt for that price!! Get it while it's still good!! But, if your budget can't cut it, you can try out a 9800 Non-pro probably. As long as you don't have all these power consuming devices and you don't overclock.

Sorry, but I'm a total noob about hardware, got 4 questions

1. How soon the next generation of vid cars will arrive?
2. Which is the best vid card possible for my pc p4 2,0Ghz mobo intel D845WN?
3. How can I figure how many watts is my PSU?
4. what is a ****ing PSU? (sorry, I know that one is toootally noob)

1) nvidia's new card will be here 4/24/04
2) Currently 9800XT, in a few weeks, 6800ultra
3) Open you case, look at your PSu (box upper left cornor) and read where it says "Maxx output"
4) Power Supply Unit

lilBoy: if you have a 9600np, you really don't need to upgrade to a 9800pro or nonpro. it'd jsut be a waste of money for minimal gain. if you want to upgrade, wait a few weeks and get a new nvidiia card, or wait a fe wmonthes and get a ne ati card.

No, he only has a 2 GHz CPU, which will be a bottleneck. Good graphics card need to be accompanied by a good CPU, or otherwise they won't be able to fully spread their wings, so to speak. I think his 9600np matches his 2 GHz CPU perfectly.

pat_thetic: not a difference great enough to warrent spending 200 or more dollars.

Arno: There are very few games that are currently CPU bottlenecked, like JKII. witha 2ghz cpu, a video card will be a much bigger bottleneck. Besides, there 2 diffrnet people ;)

Hey I need to know if I need to upgrade any of my pc parts, you..know...for HL2.
I got my PNY Geforce FX 5700 ultra for christmas and I know that its good enough for HL2 but I dont know if my processer is good enough. It is a P4 2.4 processer. I have a question to...
I got my pc last your febuary and I need to know if it Hyper Threading capable. 3Dmark says its optional but on my system bios its marked out and says disable. Is it my processer or my mobo that supports it, bcs it seems one supports it and the other doesn't

The 9600 XT costs like 150. The 9800 pro is 212.
