I posted on this a while back but ended up resolving it by forcing another mode of DirectX (7.0). But I'd now like to play using 8.0 or 8.1 if at all possible. I know my video card supports it, but it gives me a bunch of problems when I force it.

With the flashlight on, things look somewhat normal until they get shot or pushed, then they turn white or clear. I'm guessing it might be a lighting problem but I'm not sure. My pc isn't great, Dell Dimension 2400. Has a P4 2.66ghz processor, 640mb of ram and a Geforce FX5200 PCI video card. As good as it's going to get unless I buy more memory for it.
But has anyone had this problem before and know how to correct it? I'd really like to play using something other then 7.0 so that I can actually enjoy the quality of the graphics. I mean, it looks great with 7.0 alone, but if 8.0 is possible.. I'd like to know what to do to correct it. Thanks in advance. =)
