I think it's a good article that shows the side of the conflict that we rarely get to see in mainstream media.

So, discuss.

heh I was just reading it before coming here ...pretty chilling

" Four mujahedin are here [in the freezer]. They had these backpack-belt things. One had an explosive belt, and people walking to Karbala [a city holy to Shiite Muslim pilgrims] recognized he was a suicide bomber and they stopped him and killed him. The others also had these suicide belts and killed themselves. Then there was the bicycle bomber in Bayaa. The one at Muthana air base, he was a Saudi. Almost none of the suicide bombers are Iraqi. According to the police, even the bicycle bomber they found some paper on, they found paper that made it seem he was Iranian." - http://news.yahoo.com/s/latimests/20050826/ts_latimes/inacoldroommemoriesofalifeofflowers

So, no more harping and knee-jerk reactions about "the wonderful, dazzling, pot-smoking Al-Qaeda Liberators saving Iraq, where most of them are Iraqi!"

Oh yes, and I found this from it to be interesting ...

"Either way, with the Americans or without the Americans, we will see nothing but damage. Maybe, maybe with the Americans, things will be a little better." - http://news.yahoo.com/s/latimests/20050826/ts_latimes/inacoldroommemoriesofalifeofflowers

See, this is what I like about this article. It casts aside politics and shows the reality. Even if you do look at it with politics in mind, you can find something to use for an arguement for either side.

Must be hard to have teenagers there. Never thought about that but it makes sense as to what my bro had told me, that some of the attackers just ended up doing it for something to do or a thrill. Kind of like you'd end up with youth who vandalize cars or such but a violent/deadly twist. He has 3 at that age too, must be hard to be a father and keep them safe/in line.

I guess, all i would really say "is what do you expect", kinda sad one guy has to deal with it, seemingly on his own.

We never received any dead people unless maybe there was a car accident. I can estimate that I've received 200 Christians since the collapse of the regime — most were interpreters.

I find this kinda odd, i mean arn't they finding mass graves ... o wait that would explain it!

"He actually used the word ‘terrorist’ in the speech 23 times"

verbal diarrhea

Yea really indicates his demographic when hes having to remind people of terrorists every few sentences. Hrmmm.

Harsh reality is better than none. The fact that the bombers arn't Iraqi just shows how deep the "re-construction" has to dig itself to reach back to the surface
