I'd like to know how people view sniping.

1) Never touch sniper rifles. Ever.

2) Yeah I might sometimes use them to counter the other teams sniper.

3) Yeah, it's cowardice but if it gives me an edge...

4) Sniper rifles are teh b0mb m4n! Every chance I get...

BTW, I'm a number 1 person. Never use them even if it gets me killed. They're just so overpowered and waaaay too easy to use, It would feel like cheating to use them.

I use sniper rifles how they are meant to be used, to harass the enemy.
I will be up with the rest of the boys supporting them......i hate it when i see a coward camping at a spawn, ruining the game.

Overall i don't use sniper rifles too often, 1/20 rounds i might use the scout, i never use the AWP or auto snipers.

3.5) I'll use them if i know i have support against people rushing me (teammates/scenery). I won't use them every chance i get but i like to mess around with a scout everynow and then, and rarely i'll pick up an autosniper(starting to actually train with the auto for clan matches)

I use them whenever I want (which is not very frequent since I am not the best sniper), and I don't view them as cheap/noobish. If it is there, it is fair game. It isn't like there is no way to prevent people from sniping you (it is called a smoke nade). What pisses me off is when some people on cs completely bitch and whine about how everything is cheap. They never chalk it up to themselves not being good enough (because that is never the case, right?). I once heard somebody call the deagle cheap. COME ON. That is just ridiculous. Human nature is: if it exists, people will bitch about it.

Snipers aren't easy. Scout is cheaper than m4. I guess you use the m4 pretty often as CT. Just buy a scout instead and try to get an equal score. Sniping is harder than using normal guns, but snipers are more deadly if you manage to actually hit someone. Hitting someone takes skill. Since you have only 1 bullet, it's harder to snipe someone than to m4 him. Don't say scouting people are lamers etc.

You mean other way around? Yeah, I agree. I do love the m4 though. Even though the t's have the ak, I still don't think there is a real equal to the m4.

I don't mind sniping at all; really, after you start playing real cal-style scrims and you stop pubbing as much, you get a lot less annoyed because you realize that a good AWPer or scouter or autosniper is just a benefit to your team.

If I snipe, I generally scout, for practice, but in real games I'll awp.

edit: about m4/ak: they are both easier to use than scout. I don't really like the m4 because of how easy it is to use, but the ak is great. new firing pattern still throws me off, though.

Same. though haven't you ever heard of an assault scout? ;). That's running full on headfirst with a scout towards the enemy. That's what they're for, afterall, they are the fastest weapons in the game, so use them to rush. Of course I hang back too, but it just gives you an edge when, on Dust2 as CT, you can get short A from CT spawn through A faster than T's and snipe them all as they run down the hill to double doors.

But you really do have to be good. Immortal is far better than me, and he's evolved into using the AWP every chance he gets. I prefer speed though, so I can imagine myself sticking with the scout for a while.

Scout rushes pwn :D

So who would win, a good team of snipers vs. a good team of non-snipers? I'd say the snipers. They rush with Desert Eagle while a few autosnipers cover them... that's tough to counter.

depends on the map and what teams they were on.

That's what smoke nades are for. Everyone buys one, snipers get pissed. It's just a matter of acting fast enough before everyone runs out of smoke.

The smoke dissapates so fast that the snipers can often just wait it out... and just shoot randomly into the smoke to make people think twice about rushing out. I guess if you really have good teamplay you can make it... but that's rare on public servers.

I ocassionally scout on maps, but in clan matches I tend to leave the sniping/awping to other members.

I feel very vulnerable with a sniper, and if I'm on my own, I'll tend to go for an AK or M4 over the scout if there's one on the floor, just so I stand a better chance up close.

I only use the scout out of the snipers, the awm feels like cheating :|

autosniper is way cheaper than awp. if you think awp is cheap now, you should have seen it in 1.5...

i dont use them because i cant :'(

Whoever can snipe well - fair play, they have a role to play anyway but i dont like the Auto-Sniper...

auto-sniper is really, really easy to use, but I don't really care if people use it.

It's mainly just I give more respect to people who use the tougher guns, but if you think that using easy guns makes you a better player than more power to you.

Some people doesn't care about getting better. Seems as they only care about getting an autosniper and then camp somewhere where they can easily ruin the fun for a lot of players :flame:

When that happens, I go to a different server.

I generally don't pub anymore anyway, I stick to scrimmages because they're a LOT more fun.

I use whatever gun is required to assist my team and get the objective done.

There is no such thing as an overpowered gun, the awp only has 1 shot.. the auto's shake.. if you have skill you can overcome their "magic"...

I have to say that neither AWP nor autosniper requires much skill. A little, but not much. Some people though are really good, and the way that they use it requires skill - but most people can do fairly well with the guns without being overly awesome at anything else.

Some kids just need to deal with the fact that you can't be pushing the movement keys 100% of the game, we call that "tactics".

I love to use the Scout, nothing better than hopping from spawn into position and suprising a few enemys. Its probably the easiest bolt-action sniper to learn with because theres no cool-down time after moving. Plus the "personA headshotted personB with the scout" sprite thing up in the corner just looks cool.

I prefer to stay far away from the Autosnipers, they are a cancer to the game.

The AWP isnt too cheap nowdays, and its not like you can keep yourself hidden (as a good sniper always should) when using it. Its louder than a HE grenade!

I only use the Snipers on scoutzknives, overwise I don't because I prefere using the AK which is useful for everything.

I love using the awp as much as possible just to piss off all the idiots that complain about them.

I used to NEVER even think about buying a Sniper rifle, but now I've learned to snipe effectively but I still try not to do it often.

Does anyone actually consider the Steyr Aug and SG-552 to be sniper rifles? I just look at them as auto rifles with a slight zoom feature and good accuracy. Thats why I prefer them.

If not, I never snipe. High zoom rates tend to give me headaches.
