Fopr those of you who have tried CS:S beta.

Is there af visible difference between "old" 9700/9800 cards and the new x800 ??

Well, I think there are some diffrrence or other, but what have you seen??

(sory if this has already been descussed)

((sory bad spelling))

well, only if you put the settings on low etc...

otherwise it would look the same as far as i know...

dont think so...my ti 4200 looks exactly like a x800 would (no aa or af tho)

yeh same with the GFX 5400, on 1024x768 it averages 30 fps, which is nice, with no AF or AA, but still very enjoyable, and they cost all of £40 nowdays, lol

Wrong.

The Ti4200 is a DX 8.1 card, meaning you can't run in DX9. You can "force" it to run DX9, but you'll still only be seeing DX8.1 visuals.

I don't think the difference between my 9700pro and a X800 is much other than FPS.

I agree.

HL2 uses pixel shader 2.0 effects whereas the x800's can utilise ps2.0b effects. So the extra abilities of the x800 aren't being used...yet.

Better FPS, hgher rez, higher AA & AF,.

These things do matter.

But mostly, it will be the same. I'm quite content to play these games on my 9800pro
