Voice work

Through the whole game I knew it sounded familiar but I just couldn't place Eli Vance's voice. I had to see it in the credits. That's Benson (Robert Guillaume)!

I thought it was pretty cool that a) this game title warranted voice work form actual known actors (i'm not saying its Tom & Nicole or anything, everyone listed could easily be considered "B" Actors), and b) that Valve actually pursued them when they could have gotten away with complete no-namers.

all of the vioces fit the in-game characters so perfectly... i loved the voice acting, and also the way the characters spoke, and most importantly what they said... dr. breen's and g-man's speeches were very geniusly written. the character designers at valve really did a great job (in a small timespan )

I know he's definately not the biggest actor on that list, but Mike Shapiro just keeps on to amaze me with the g-man's brilliant voice. And of course my own favourite: Barney.
I've always been kinda faschinated by voice-over acting. It's interesting the kind of actors who are beginning to do computer games as well as TV, like GTA:Vice City for example.

Speaking of voice acting, does anyone know how to get into the game files and pull out individual audio files? I'd *kill* to be able to hear Barney yell, "Headhumpers, yeah!" every time I turned on my PC.

This reminded me of an amusing story... about 6 months after the the whole Rick James revival (when Chapelle did his skit) a friend of mine who works at Rockstar games told me he saw Eddie Murphy's brother come in for a meeting with some game project managers. we were both trying to figure out how this guy, who is only famous because he shares a last name with his brother, was celebrity enough to either do voice or skin modeling.
