i've created my .vtf file using vtex as instructed in several tutorials. I've entered a generic shader info in a text file and renamed it .vmt and put both files in my materials folder, keeping the TGA file in the materialsrc folder, etc.. but i can't seem to find the texture in Hammer!?
Could Hammer not know where to look? The texture browser goes through lots of CS material, sprays, logos, etc.. but try as i might, MY texture doesn't show up.. Also, how come i can't find the .vtf files for all these CS textures? Where are they if not in the materials folder under the 'sample_content' folder, the place where tutorials tell me to put it?
I heard i had to put the material in the CS folder too for the game to see it, but i haven't yet even gotten hammer to see it.
My texture is the right size etc, evidenced by vtex making my .vtf.
Also, on the official Hammer intructions, they mention ".vtx" files, surely they mean .vtf files right?
there was a comment about having my Vproject settings correct, what is this about? I'm not using the console for any of this.

Too many questions in a single post :) You have to copy the vtf and vmt files in the cstrike_sample_content\materials\[AnewFolder]\ folder (so Hammer can see it) and in the counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\[AnewFolder]\ (so CS can find it).
