This is a 3D model I have been working on for awhile, it is an automatic shotgun that I am designing. It will have a EoTech sight and a flashlight on the side. It will be a replacement for the one in CS:S. It is very WORK IN PROGRESS. PLEASE tell me what your thoughts are about it, please tell me what I should do to make it better. If you have any suggestions for a texture please tell me.

p.s. I know the drum mag is missing still modeling it.

UPDATE 1: I finished modeling the front sights.(later post)
UPDATE 2: I just finished the rear sights.(later post)

Well, obviously still very bland at the moment but the RIS rail is sechs.

Not just good. Sexy good. I would lick it.

Do you guys have any suggestions on a color, texture, fine details, big details, etc.

This is the only shotgun I know of in the warhammer universe:

The handle should have more natural curves to it, not just a rounded triangle shape.

I kinda see what you mean, but it is ment to look similar to an inverted P90 handle and the P90 has the same rounded triangle look. I'll consider changing it later.

could you render it against a grey background next time ? , it will provide the image with more contrast. cant really comment on it atm.

Here are the front sights, I will be modeling the rear next.

Incase you guys are wondering, I am modeling in Google SketchUp. When I'm done I'll import it into 3ds Max.

Here are some shots of the rear sights, yell me what you think. Do you think I should leave the sights like this or add an EoTech?

This thing a shotgun or an assault rifle? Shotguns (unless it's a slug gun) don't have those sights. It has a rear bead and then a picatinny rail. You also need to make it a tube-fed magazine or you could make it look like a Jackhammer. It's not practical to use a magazine or clip like that.
The stock? Is there supposed to be one? At the moment it seems that you're either going to add a folding one or there won't be one at all (making a shotgun without a stock is a very, very, very bad idea).
Last thing, barrel's too short. Using the index of that gun using 3 inch magnums then it's about a 12-inch barrel, the whole thing is disproportionate. Modern combat shotguns are closer to 20-24 inches long.
I decline comment on the quality of the piece, I have the artistic taste/skill of a railroad tie.

I'm pretty sure most of that realism can be thrown out of the window for visual appeal's sake.

Who says realistic-looking shotguns can't be intimidation? Did you even look at the Jackhammer?

That's not my point. I'm saying it really doesn't matter if it's realistic or not if it looks good anyway.

Eh, oh well. Personally I'm a bit too literal for my own good, it's hard for me to get into the game if it's not realistic.

It's a bit like going to the Aliens film and saying that Aliens cant walk over walls..
f*** it, it looks cool !

As for the model, dont do it all high res first, youll end up having to optimize a god load of poly's.
Its a waste of time id say...

More like saying "how the ***************** is he shooting that accurately with two pistols?".

cause it sells more. just like why the allies won world war two. better movies would come out of it.

I like where it is going, just, when it comes to the handle, remember, make it a little more convienient for the user. Design it so it seems like someone could comfortably use it, the hole you have for the thumb, I think it should be larger, or at least wider, otherwise the person cant get the entire "thumb area" of their hand in comfortably

I am no gun expert, its just how I've been told when it comes to designing weapons
