Hmm, so far only Immortal tempts me to go, although 1349 would probably be enjoyable and Arch Enemy are OK for a bit of mindless cheesewank. I nearly travelled to Prague last year to catch Immortal at a festival in the Czech Rep. but the line up for that one turned into awful shite, so I'll wait to see how Wacken shapes up. It's never what you'd call the best showcase for the smaller, less celebrated metal acts...

From observation and reviews from friends, it seems that Hellfest has really given Wacken a run for it's money in the last two or three years for the European metal fest throne. Looking at the lineup proves this for me, too. Shocklingly bad last year, shaping up to be pretty horrendous this year as well but then Hellfest have got Godflesh on an exclusive so really, what competition is there for Wacken to trump that?
