The Black Mesa facility was supposed to be a secret, right?
Why would they have T-shirts.. like the one Alyx wears? Maybe personalized lab coats, but T-SHIRTS?
What is there, a Black Mesa gift shop?

It's A GAME. Make up a your own sensible reason, and that's good enough.

(And if you want to be all serious, and act like the world will collapse if you can't think of a good reason, -let's face it: BM was no longer a secret once people started to ask where all the fu*king aliens were coming from, was it.)

There's heaps of reasons you could make up. One of them might even be the reason the developers put in in there.

"The devs thought it would be nice for people who had played HL1"

"The rebels have made Black Mesa and it's scientists into a symbol of freedom from the Combine, and made T-shirts to show their support"

"Black Mesa" is the name of Alyx's favourite band, and she got a free T-shirt from the lead singer after she got busy with him in the back alley after the show"

"A REALLY illiterate rebel tried making "we surrender" T-shirts, but failed"

The Black Mesa Research Facility allows its employees' relatives to live there hence they don't have to be scientists or security guards to stay. I think they actually do have a gift-shop so that would be where they get the shirts from.

On another note, I think the employees can where the shirts but must also where their uniforms/labcoats for proper identification.

Shasta, your very hostile answer is apprieciated.

Huh? It wasn't meant to be hostile. Don't take me so seriously....

Unless I rip on you for saying something really stupid...

:)

Actually, Alyx has a cut down hoodie, not a Tishirt. Which could be from Black Mesa for a variety of reasons, one of them being that it's a standard issue element of recreation clothes available to Black Mesa employees.

Kind of like what the Army issues.

There's actually very little reason to think Black Mesa was a secret. Want went on there was most certainly secret, but the facility itself wasn't necessarily (too early to spellcheck) secret.

Screen? I didnt see a BM shirt... Most Grunts knew nothing much about BM

Haven't you seen -CK ME- on Alyx's shirt? Or was that fixed? Can't remember but it was funny.

I was referring to the shirts Army gives out to soldiers, like brown shirts with RECON printed on them or similar.

I believe the facility itself was not secret but all the teleporting crap and the weapons research was secret. I mean, the tram announcer is all "Why not tell your friends about Black Mesa?".

Relatives, not friends, i dont think i heard friends... Mr.Sim.....

It looked like a hoodie, you know, the kind you'd wear to the gym. If you worked there.

No reason the facility itself had to be secret. Not necessarily. Like, we know about the Los Alamos laboratory, even though most of what's going on there is highly classified.

And during the events of HL2, Black Mesa was certainly no more a secret. The "Black Mesa incident" was well-known to the general population.

I would also speculate that the truth about it was also revealed before the Combine invasion. The military originally tried to cover it all up, but as you saw in HL1, the aliens were also well outside the Black Mesa facility. It quite seems like that all was a bit too much to try and cover up.

Exactly.

This is a Half-Life2.net forums, for fans of the game Half-Life 2. Obviously we think about his way too much. If we didn't, we wouldn't be here.

Black Mesa became a cool thing after it blew up, so people started selling shirts with it's name on. Easy.

Black Mesa is dead, long live Black Mesa! *starts making t-shirts* Actually I want a Black Mesa t-shirt.
