Technically, when HL2 is released, isn't everyone who is even buying the game getting screwed if they don't get the regular edition via steam or retail, BUT the people that pay the Steam monthly fee?

They receive all of the games VALVe releases as soon as they become available for a moderately low monthly fee, im not sure if that includes HL2 or not though, but either way, isn't the best course of action for getting the games VALVe releases, by just buying the regular or CE retail edition of HL2, or Steam version, then paying the monthly fee so you get everything?

I'd guess they're not even doing the subscription anymore. A bit of a silly idea when you think about it, Valve tends to release games every few millenia.

Hmm.. its either that or they are going to have some major major bandwidth issues and lose out on ALOT of money lol.

It seems as though they engineered that plan of monthly subscription only to registered cyber cafes. They pay a monthly fee and get every game as it's released.

EDIT: Whether or not they make a domestic subscription service afterall remains to be seen.

maybe they could do it where you buy half life 2, you pay a dollar per month and you are guaranteed a free copy of half life 3, and also any other shit they might happen to come out with. this way they get around the whole "paying for one month and beating hl2" thing, and also with such a low fee people wont feel like they are getting ripped off since valve barely comes out with new titles. then lets say valve makes hl3 in 4 years, you have paid $48 through the dollar per month thing, probably around the same price as HL3 will cost, PLUS youll be getting other mods and stuff as they are produced. if they did this im sure everyone would jump on it, and they could dump vivendi and say screw all the publishers.

They'd be losing instant profit if they went forward with a domestic monthly subscription. In the long run they'd make more money ($15-20 a month for a minimum of 6 months perhaps, as opposed to $50 per game retail) but from a instant cash injection point of view the monthy subs would be bad idea.

you dont know is its good untill u are given a price of the monthly thing, which isnt on offer anymore.
also i found the wording of this post very hard to understand, maybe i am just dumb.
