Mod Idea: (No! Hear me out!)

Sometime in the far future. After decimation and subsequent fallout, mankind lives in huge, mechanical mobile cities. Warfare is conducted by gigantic mechs. These mechs are so huge and packed with weaponry that they are like walking cities. I'm talking miles high here, with just one arm of a bipedal robot containing hundreds of weapons batteries, radar control centres and even airbases for squadrons of fighter planes. In the heart of these monstrous vehicles would be foundries, munition factories, personel centres, computer cores and of course, the reactor. Hundreds of these robots launcyhing offensive and counter-offensive, fighting hand-to-hand or at a distance, firing off massive barrages of weapons against eachother, launching waves of boarding craft filled with commandos.
Okay, maybe a little ambitious...but if not for a mod, a good concept anyway. In fact, I think I'll write a story on it. :naughty:

Yah I little overboard for a mod but a very cool and interesting concept. I was actually thinking of something like that a while ago. I bet it would be a entertaining story.

I bet we at Source Films could turn that into a cool film if we wanted to, given that we wouldn't need to render the mile high mechs on the same scale as the people--just use small models of whatever we need and make it look big with camera angles and a few pan shots (like digital miniatures almost).

Do you have a 1,000 pc renderfarm to render it looking at least decent? j/k hehe ;).

Cool, you're talking about machinima?
Uh, nevermind, it says it in your signature.

I was thinking of doing machinima with the Source engine too, and the story-line for my movie's going along fairly well.

The only problem is that I have none of the skills required for it. Well, maybe voice-acting. Does your machinima team have a website? Are there any tutorials I can look up? I'm guessing it would take months for me to learn everything (mapping, modelling, scripts, capture, etc.) but I'm willing to take that long.

I'm really liking the idea, actually. But it's not realistic. I mean, just send one nuclear bomb and you destory the entire thing. And wouldn't one step of the robot cause damage to the planet (unless you're on, say, Jupiter). Not to mention it'd take an hour for one step.

But I still say it's damn cool and I'd love for it to be turned into a machinima film. By the way, does Source Films already have some ideas for films or mini-series?

to my knowledge, BGC was done with FRAPS and Premiere.

Actually, it was done by recording, either to VHS, which I highly doubt, or feeding the video output (Hi-Def or digital) into a computer, which is more likely since they had a "high-definition" file that was downloadable by people who donated.

They definitely used Premiere.

Hmm. This seems to have turned into a thread about Source Films...anyway, you have my permission to make a film out of it if you want to, as long as I get a credit. I'm not paying you though...
