Walking doesnt work

Hi all, had a search but cant find an answer to this. I've assigned several keys to 'walk' but when i use it in the game im going at the same speed, same with run ... Im a short way into level 1, can anyone help ? Im playin on a dell xps 1710 notebook if thats relevant.

I've tried it, and it also doesn't seem to work. Your best bet is just to use crouch as a replacement instead (still slower).

Walking is only slightly, imperceptibly slower than normal movement. I noticed that too the first time I played and only after trying it a bunch of times did I realize that it does work, you just don't notice it unless you're going from regular movement to holding down the walk key. Why they removed HL's walking speed I'll never know but in HL2 it's useless.

It's completely useless in HL2. If the regular running speed is 1.0, the walking speed is 0.95.

I don't think I ever used the walk feature in HL1/2. I don't even have it bound to a key. If I have to creep around a corner I might as well crouch.

If, by any chance whatsoever, you bound the walk key to the Numpad (like me - I play on the Numpad), make sure NumLock is on. Otherwise, if you're in the first mission, I think you're pretty much stuck with slow movement speed, until later.
