NEW YORK – Walter Cronkite, the premier TV anchorman of the networks' golden age who reported a tumultuous time with reassuring authority and came to be called "the most trusted man in America," has died. He was 92. CBS vice president Linda Mason says Cronkite died at 7:42 p.m. Friday with his family by his side at his home in New York after a long illness.

Looking at wikipedia, wow this man covered a lot of the biggest events of the 20th century. Sad to see him go, but glad he had such a great career and long life.

Yeah I just saw this on the news. Hey, atleast he died as an old man rather then a young one.

I wish you young folk could see what professional journalism used to be like. We will never see the likes of him again. :(

Nowadays, all they want to do is scare the bejesus out out us. Back then, they also told us everything will be OK.

That was know as the Fairness Doctrine, and it might be making a comeback!

They used to mention him all the time on Murphy Brown... to be honest I thought he was already dead. Still sad though.

"This is Walter Cronkite saying: 'I told you so.'"

I cannot believe there is no I can't find the video clip of the "Altered Walter" skit from SNL.

The fact that he gets less news coverage than someone like Michael Jackson is sort of sickening in my opinion. :(

A shame the media can't live up to his legacy these days.

This remark has merit, and I therefore quote it.

What I can't stand is that I keep hearing MJs music everywhere. its really getting old fast.
