Anybody who lives near Universal Studios Hollywood needs to go there and take the tram tour.

For those of you who have taken it before remember where they show the Jerassic Park 3 set thats outdoors, the compound thingy? Well anyway its still there but you cant see it, want to know why? Because its being blocked by the War of the Worlds set! And its the biggest largest most amazing set I have ever seen! I dont know how to type it up and explain how it looks.

Its got a double decker 747 destroyed on grass, barely standing homes with debris on them, and jesus the amount of props on this set is incredible. The detail is amazing, you can see bike parts spread across the set and the inside of the 747 looks like the inside of a ****ing 747. Its so freaky yet so ****ing cool.

Its no pussy ass miniature. That 747 is so damn big, and just jesus christ. There is not one spot on the ground where you can actually see the grass or road. Its like a painting that shows no white canvas, all of it is covered by debris and shit.

That set will be there but I dont know for how long, they take you through it freely you dont have to like get a vip pass or look really hard. You go right through it. I guess the movie is not just special effects. That set really felt real, everyone was silent as the tram went through it because it was so breathtaking. This movie is gonna kick ass!

Seriously, take a hundred and show us.

Oh yah, lemme pay 53 bucks and go back lol...and just to take 1 picture.

You can see about 1/16th of the set in the 2nd trailer with cruise with his arms over his head and the airplane wheel on fire.

HAHA That sounds awesome! too bad i'm on the other side of the country!!!

You must be the only person that goes tothese placeswithout a camera :p

Well I have only been there 50 million times. I never expect anything new when I go, so whats the point of bringing a camera?

Plus i dont have a digital camera

I bet if you search google you can find something.

UPDATE:
WHATEVER YOU DO, IF YOU EVER COME ACCROSS A SITE CALLED TOMCRUISEFAN.COM DO NOT GO THERE! I WAS LOOKING FOR PICS FOR YOU GUYS AND CLICKED IT, I NOW HAVE 47 EZULA THINGS THAT CANNOT BE DELETED BY ANY PROGRAM I HAVE INCLUDING MCAFEE, A HIJACKER THAT ALSO CANT BE DELETED, AND EVERY 3 SECONDS I GET A POP UP, EVEN WHEN NOT BROWSING THE INTERNET!

I left my comp on overnight, 15 programs installed themselves onto it. So whatever you do, tomcruisefan = bad. But Im sure other websites are legit, im just not going to hurt my computer more.

if you have to pay to get in, why do you go so often?

Firefox is your friend! :p

Tom Cruise is actually one of my favorite actors, I can't wait for this movie.

damn that looks cool. i see where he's coming from.

Wow, those pictures make the set look way cooler. BTW since when did they put a roller coaster in Universal? I'm pretty sure it wasn't there a year ago when I went.

wow, all that effort on that one set, makes you wonder.... yes it is cool, it'll feature for 2 minutes of the movie no doubt, why do we do it...!? are we crazy... all that money for that set could of been put towards hundreds of more important causes.

I feel like a buzz kill, but its true.. I look at that and think, awsome.. :D.. what a waste of money, they'll make it back at 200% profit no doubt when it hits the big screen which puts a lump in my throat.

Did they actually do the filming right on that exact spot, or did they move the set from a different filming location?

The filmed on that exact spot, dude, look at the set. How the hell can you move that?
Also the rollercoaster is very new, it replaces ET ( :-( ) .

I just want to know how picky speilberg was about that set. Like Im sure it would have been difficult to randomly drop the debris on the set. I just wonder how they went about placing props and how many of them (besides the big ass plane) he actually predetermined where they would go.

I mean did he say "NO THAT PEICE OF WOOD GOES OVER THERE, NOT THERE!"
Very cool anyway, you can see scattered clother (because all homes have clothing), a stroller (in one of the pictures I posted) and bicycle parts.

Lots of detail

My rule is: If you can move whole buildings then you can surely move a set. The reason I was asking though is it would seem hard to film in a theme park. And that Roller Coaster looks awesome I gotta go again sometime. :D

Awesome. I cant wait for this movie!

Also whole buildings are easier to move than sets with thousands perfectly placed pinky size props

plus this set is more like 10 buildings including the homes. that set aint goin no where. Pluce it said it was originally shot there.

So what do they do when they need to film, stop the tram tour? Close the Theme Park? Film at night? And its not like they need to put the set back together in exactly the same way, unless they are planning to film with it more.

...maybe they don't need the set anymore? I bet filming has already stopped.

Yeah, but I'm talking about when they were filming. Hhmmmmmm, maybe the actors just have to ignore all the visitors.

Number one, the tram guide said that originaly filming was right there.

Number two, yes they do close certain parts of the park when they are filming. The tram couldnt go to a certain area it always goes to because of filming for Desperate Housewives. They close parts of the park all the time dude.

In that movie with that kid who goes to universal and leads a guy to the mexican flood area that the tram always goes to. They didnt move that whole entire contraption it would be impossible, so they closed that part of the tour and filmed it.

Ooohhhhhh, it's so clear now. Sorry I didn't know they actually closed the park I've only been there twice. :D
