Your pic isn't showing up for me, which is just as well cause Jeff Russell's website of starship comparisons is better:

http://www.merzo.net/

They're showing up now :p

The website I posted is basically the same thing but with better presentation, and it goes even bigger (cloud city, death stars, etc)

Yeah I'm looking at it now, pretty good stuff, looks like there materials from my charts i posted came from this site.

Yes, we've seen these charts several times in the image dump.

:arms:

I love space ship comparison charts from games.

The ones from Eve are really cool.

Here's one of those. There are others... I'll put them in spoiler.

Here's some for X3 Terran Conflict.

These are a hoot, and they include newer space ships.

It's hilarious how oversized some ships are in SCI-Fi. For instance, many of those "frigates" are larger than modern skyscrapers! Its made even more ridiculous by the fact that you can see clearly defined windows on them, implying the windows must be 10's of meters high. Yeah, why exactly do they need 50 ft. windows in the hallways of some of these ships?

The problem with having big space-ships is the huge amount of energy needed to push them around. Another problem is that they're easier targets to hit. But of course, its sci-fi, so we've got to have big space battles with huge cruisers.

They aren't so big when comapred with the eternal vastness of space.

I dunno man... I love me some capital ship battles.

Yeah, I've always wondered about that. The only reason that you should have bigger sizes is for the cargo and weapons payload, because size directly correlates with survivability of weapons systems including tanks as well as naval vessles.

Seriously, there is no reason for future space combat ships to exceed the size of the United States' current supercarriers. And that would still be overdoing it, especially as we have thermonuclear missiles to kill a whole shitload of aliens. Seriously, the philosophy of "Big Guns, Big Ships" died with the military disaster that is the Yamato battleship of Imperial Japan. (And the development of AS missiles)

Another thing, what's with the curves? Did they try to make it more aerodynamic in vacuum? More aesthetically pleasing so that the Alien threat will hesitate to blow you out of the sky because we failed to nuke them first? Seriously, all you need is square shaped ships with curves at the end for visuals and LOS.

I like the Starship Troopers (movie) ships, though.

That dude's farts could, like, destroy shit.

Wouldn't his size like... cause him to become a singularity of his own?

What is it, though? D:
A really, really big robot powered by the hopes, dreams, and willpower of humanity, piloted by about 20 or so people. They fight against an equally large robot controlled by a race that wants to protect the universe by locking away the evolution of sentient species. Both robots are so huge they start grabbing galaxies and throwing them at each other.

wut...

Hence utterly destroying sentient species either way.

Btw, Stormy, where is that from?

Nah, they're fine. Cartoon physics.

The episode where all that shit goes down is here, if you want to watch it. It's a bit low quality but you can still see galaxies getting smashed, torn in half, broken through like cheap plates, thrown around, exploded...they create a big bang at one point.

But.... but... what?

I watched the video. I think my brain had a THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER WINDOWS HAS BEEN STOPPED TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR BRAIN ARCHITECTURE WINDOWS WILL RESTART IN 5....
