... a FPS? All the new screens I see are in a third person's perspective tho. Here for example.

I'm under the impression that you can alternate the view, like Morrowind. Or perhaps they've changed their plans, or maybe they're just like that for the sake of good ingame shots.

You can alternate between both first and the third person. First person is aimed at the gun wielders out there and third person is directed towards those who prefer melee combat.

Remember, you can also mix guns and swords! This game looks to be amazing no matter what perspective it's in.

There will be a 3rd person view. It was stated if you want to do melee combat.

Remember this game is a FPS and AN RPG.
You can shoot at a guy..but if you hit him is stat based.
It uses randomized itemsl ike in diablo. You can have 2 weapons named the same but with diffrent ranges, damage, and accuracy.

It was made by many people from Blizzard North(D1, D2). This game is more than heavily influenced by Diablo. **** it's what Diablo would be if it were set in the same year and the same setting.

This game is going to be awesome, they have a cinematic trailer, or movie, on their site.

You can see, that even though they left Blizzard North, they still have those awesome cinematics to back up the gameplay. I think more games need short intros like that to games, levels, etc..It really makes you get a better feeling for the game..

I was thinking the same thing. The whole first-person aspect of the game (monsters able to sneak up behind you, limited field of view, having to be exposed when looking around corners, "holding" the guns, shaking/disoriented camera views, overall immersion, etc.) seems to have been replaced by adding the option for a more simple RPG third person view. I'm not particularly happy about this but it's not a big deal-- something tells me it's going to be the infinite unique items that will keep people playing anyways.

I know what you mean, back when Playstation 1 games were ruling the shelves, games where full of FMV sequences and they were something to look forward to in an action game. Now they just use the in game engine, and it doesn't look ash shiny :(

Blizzard and Blizzard North had always been masters in cinamatics.

Infact...there will be even something similar to the horadric cube....
as Pc Gamer said,
"We arn't even sure why Bill Roper had to leave blizzard north to make this game."

Ah, but it's the quality of the cutscenes that matters! Like the ones in Timesplitters 3...they're great!

I'd personally rather play Hellgate in FPS mode, for the reasons that Styloid said - but hey, it's an rpg above anything else.

I think that having the 3rd person option is just an added bonus. Thief 3 got a lot of crap for offering both viewpoints. "It was too console-ized," said some. I personally think it is really cool to watch my thief creep around the spooky environments, in and out of shadows and such. That said, the majority of my taffing is done in the 1st person.

I am looking forward to more great 1st/3rd preson stealth action with Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The stealth portion is being handled by one of the great designers from the Thief series, Emil Pagliarulo, so you know it will be top-notch!
