I thought it had fix it, but ive had freezups in ravenholm and now Highway 17 for no damn reason.

I play and the game just freeze, nothing i gotta restart computer.,

How fun is it to play and restart game ? ive done it today maybe 5-6 times im so damn upset at valve.

I think he means the Steam update recently released. (You can get it by restarting Steam if you haven't for a few days). You can verify your game files are correct, and that's supposed to fix problems for some people (in other words, some people somehow had a bad unpack, and this will check and fix that for those people). Info. about it at the Steampowered website under news. (And I think you have to use the link there for each game once you update steam for it to check.)

Also, to my knowledge, unless you had a problem CAUSED by the unpack error, this doesn't fix anything. So maybe yours is an unrelated issue?

There is an update on http://www.steampowered.com/?area=news that is supposed to fix the "small number of customers" having trouble with the game freezing and such. I also downloaded this patch and it did nothing!! Cant get past Red Letter Day, everytime it gets to the load on the steps it just goes back to the Half Life 2 main menu. They need to fix this shit. I love half life to death but im pissed that i payed 50 bucks for it and cant even play it now.

I've been getting the same problem as you, but it appears to come and go. Everytime it freezes, I need to do a hard restart of my system.

When it freezes for you, do you have the constant looping of the last sound played?

I tried fiddling with my audio settings after having to restart at the same point 5 times in a row. I put my sound detail down to LOW, then all of a sudden it worked again. This only happens when I reach autosave points, by the way.

But now having low sound quality isn't helping anymore. I kill the ant lion guard on the beach, pick up the spores, then as soon as I go through the doorway after the vortigaunt it crashes.

10 times in a row last night :(

No, that update didn't try to fix the stuttering problem. Read the Steam news page again. They said they're GOING TO fix it soon. The update that got released was just to check your Steam cache and validate the files aren't corrupt.

well when my game freezes the sound disappears so i cant do anything except restart. I really hope they fix it soon.

A solution for the stuttering problem has been found and a fix is coming. I've been talking with Gary McTaggart about this today and it turns out that my texture management theory was correct. A patch will be coming for this issue that will load all of the required textures into video memory on level load, rather than doing it during game play. There is currently no ETA for this patch, but I will post an update as soon as I get more information.
