Watchmen: The End is Nigh - Spike TV trailer

This breaks my heart. Tears it out, spits on it with all the combined fury of a Winslet/DiCaprio duo on the deck of the Titanic and drops it idly in a blender. That this game exists is a punch to an already winded stomach. I ought to ban you for posting it and bringing it to my attention.

Normally I'd be pissy at you, but... urgh.

Do eeet.

WTF I had no idea a game was being made. This will be horrific. Endless fighting, no doubt.

I always thought Watchmen could do with some expanded universe with some more stories. I always thought it'd be cool to have a comic series, but why not a game? It might be good?

Don't shoot the messenger

says a lot about gaming and even movies to some extent ..I mean the comic book is the height of artisitic expression here when it comes to the Watchmen ....the comic book, havent seen the movie but it's safe to say it would be a close second followed by the game which is a distant distant third

Haha, I don't think the problem here is that, Stern, you damn Ebert-clone. ;)

No, it won't be good. This is a game made purely to compliment a movie. It is a cynical, disgusting cash-in that is going to suck pure ass because it follows the path of the comic and the movie which, as a rule of thumb, is death to these kinds of movie tie-ins. That isn't making a game because a good game is there, but because the producers want to milk the $$$ out of the drones who will lap it up when caught in the movie release hype.

It is a abhorrent practice in today's industry and I hope the perpetrators suffer death by firing squad.

Oh go on, tell us what you really think about them Samon.

Pretty sure the whole game is based on when Rorschach and Nite Owl were still fighting crime together. Dont think it even touches any parts in the actual comic.

ive never heard of the watchmen before. But this doesnt look too promising lets put it that way.

It's pretty much what Adrik said. Nothing to get hissy about.

I think the problem is that whilst Nite Owl and Rorschach did crack alot of heads together, that isn't what Watchmen is all about or even remotely important in the grand scheme of things. It's a little annoying to see such well developed and interesting characters have a game built around punching and explosions.

Looks horrendous to me.

How smug does Alan Moore seem now for not wanting to work with Hollywood?

Amen.

I do believe it's something to get hissy about.

It's like when they made a video game for Fight Club. Although Watchmen is about Superheros, it really isn't about Superheros kicking ass and fighting crime, just in the same way Fight Club wasn't really about fighting people in a club.

Eh, I still don't think its anything to throw a fit about.

The game is based on the period of time that Nite Owl and Rorschach were cracking heads together, and well...they're cracking heads in the trailer. Hell, if they follow it right, it wont even be the same Rorschach in the book. He didn't go batshit for a while until he you know what.

Well I am throwing a hissy fit not what it's based on, no, I am throwing a hissy fit simply because they made the game.

I think that's audacious enough.

There is absolutely no necessity for this game - it is a cynical movie cash-in and nothing more. That alone is enough of a reason to start twisting.

Precisely. Every single action/children's/cartoon/blockbuster/super-hero movie has an awful video game to accompany. It's a sad truth, but it's been going on forever. Just ignore it, there's no reason to worry about them.

I'm wondering how the hell they got the rights to do this. If Alan Moore was concerned about the movie adaptation, how the hell did he let this one slip by? I mean, even if he says he isn't going to watch the film, I would at least sleep soundly with the knowledge that the film has the potential to be damned good, but this... eh, no way.

I would think DC has more power than Alan Moore does on what goes on with Watchmen.

Business as usual, then? At least they're not ****ing with the main plot.

I don't think the release of a movie warrants the making of a related game. Is it really necessary?

Then again, it is a comic-book/graphic novel...

It's not necessary but it's standard protocol.
