My water in my map never looks right..It doesnt reflect anything i have near it and it glows a greenish color around the edges. Ive heard about assigning a cubemap to just specificaly the water surface but i dont know how to do that. And i dont know if that would even help.

First make sure you have created your box of water and covered it in nodraw texture. Then assign a water texture that allows for reflections (no "cheap" water textures) to the sureface face of the cube. Make sure your water cube has ground on all of its sides dont let the bottom of the water be the bottom of your level! Finally place a env_cubemap at the surface of your water and go into its properties. Select pick face and you will get a dropper tool. Select the water texture and compile your map. If you are not getting any leaks go into your map (in HL2, CSS whatever) and in the console "~" type buildcubemaps and your water should appear reflective. If not try another water texture. Good Luck!
