Weapon unlocks

Can someone explain the system of unlocking weapons to me? My game box+manal is burried away somewhere as the rooms upstairs get renovated.

I've been playing on a map and somehow unlocked some extra weapons that you can toggle between. But often the next time I login they'll be locked again. Is it done on a per-map basis, so you have to unlock them for every single map?

Even when I check BFHQ now I can't take a look at any of the weapons I could look at before.

From the sounds of it, you were playing on an "unlocked" server, where all the weapons had been unlocked.

If you play on Ranked servers, and get a high enough rank, you'll be able to unlock one weapon of your choice. This weapon will then selectable as an alternative for the kit you chose to unlock the weapon for.

You get weapon unlocks after you have been promoted to certain levels. You should recieve your first unlock option (you choose which class you would like to unlock a weapon for after 1000 global points playing on ranked online servers. You second after 10,500 points, 3rd after 25,000 (which will take you a while )
I have seen some servers which haven't allowed unlocks for some reason, but this doesn't explain you being able to toggle between random unlocks- you will know all about it when you gain an unlock.

Ahh it did make sense. I'm only the very first rank... ... ...

1 weapon is a little harsh... I like the more powerful sniper rifle though
