The Steam update is up, check it out here, or by restarting Steam, as usual.

In the next month or so there will be a number of Valve products being made available on Steam, but this week we'd like to spotlight a game that is being built using the Source engine.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has been announced, and is being developed by Arkane Studios. Everyone around Valve played most of the previous Might and Magic games, and we're all big fans of Arkane's previous work. Like a lot of gamers, we're looking forward to playing the finished product.

We'll also be releasing Half-Life: Blue Shift on Steam next week, which will be automatically playable by anyone who owns Half-Life 1, including those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold packages.

[br]You can visit the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic site here, and as you can see, it's looking excellent. As if that wasn't enough, there's also the tantalising free Blue Shift Steam release, which is great news for any Half-Life fans who were never able to grab a retail copy the first time around.

Sweet Steam Blue shift. Perhaps the worst HL title to date, but it's nice to have it there in the same install as the rest of the games. Makes installation ohhhh so much easier.

Woohoo, I can finally replay Blue Shift.

I'm sure it will have the HD pack...

And the new M&M looks actually really fun. I've never gotten into the others, but this one looks stellar.

I hope they put more effort into Blue Shift than they did the HL source conversion. In any case I didn't buy the silver/gold or CE packs & did'nt buy the crappy Source update of HL so I doubt I'll be playing Blue Shift. Be interesting to see how it looks but since this comes fairly un-announced I'm not expecting much - Source water & physics with the naff old HL1 textures!

Dogboy73 - it's not on the Source engine, VALVe are simply giving the origonal away for free. It's like what they did with Opposing Force. In other words, if you buy HL1 and install it on steam, you'll own Opposing Force and Blue Shift as well. Not every developer decides to give away one of their games for free every now and again...

**** blue shift, its Dark Messiah that looks really good.Check out the gameplay trailer :bounce:

It's really nice to see how other developers are using the Source (e.g. SiN, now this... not to mention the Kung Fu Ragdoll).

If you had purchased the Silver package when it first came out, you would've gotten every game including DOD:S (and now Blue Shift) for FIVE MORE DOLLARS. Even if you already had all the games back when they were first released, it would've been worth it for DOD:S alone. The Silver package kicks ass.

I must say the gameplay and visuals demonstrated in the video are amazing. Freezing the ground for them to slip on it. Breaking platforms so statues fall on the enemy and grabbing them and tossing them is great. Not to mention the hand to hand combat and sneaking moves. I suggest you check it out this game shows great promise!

Mmmmmmm

Looks good, ive been looking forward to seeing something just like this develop on the source engine. It looks like it could be great fun and fresh.

Lets see what they can conjure up next...:flame:

Ragdoll Kung Fu is on it's own engine (Like Pirates of the Burning Sea, it's just being DISTIBUTED through Steam)

Is this promising hl2:lc AND hl2:a in september "or so"? Or are there other valve products being made available soonish (gogo tf2! ;))? For the sake of speculation, let's assume that blue shift is not considered a valve product and/or not counted among the "number of Valve products".

Are we going to beable to play BS online ,with sven coop now?

But what is the reason for having Blue Shift free??
So people know the character a bit better?
Maybe Barney is the Star of HL2: Aftermath , lol

You forgot about dod:s dummy. But hopefully one of the releases will be ricochet:s.

Anyone else ROFL like a madman when that troll slipped off the platform? :D

I'm actually looking forward to this game :D, looks an arseload better than SiN IMHO.

The game looks alot like Thief 3, but 5X better.
