It's that time of the week again. Though, most of today's news from Valve has already been covered and reported on (Activision and City Life announcements, along with Counter-Strike: Source DWP beta), you may have not seen the news broadcast performed by Alyx and Eli Vance, main characters in Half-Life 2, rigged by individuals from the Department of Computer Science at Northwestern University. From Valve:
Something that caught our eye recently is a project by some students at Northwestern University using the Source engine to automatically create a three minute news broadcast, called News at Sevenhttp://infolab.northwestern.edu/project.asp?id=40#projects/40---projects. Without any human intervention, their system automatically gathers all of the relevant data for the broadcast and creates a short newscast anchored by Half-Life 2 characters. Check out the ABC news story about the system, or watch Alyx and Eli deliver a newscasthttp://www.cs.northwestern.edu/~ndn651/NewsAtSeven.wmv.
To see the entire Steam news yourself, direct your browser here, or simply restart your Steam client to view the flashy pop-up.

Sounds really interesting, downloading.

lol, this is ****ing awesome :D

So, we can't get this News At Seven thing yet?
/me waits

Voice synth is of course a little off, but other than that a very promising project, and something I would probably use...

Hey that was pretty cool, especially if what it said about it being automatically generated was true. They should fix the framerate drop when all them citizens is walking by though, it was a bit distracting.

I was really dissapointed they could have made that a lot better a mean Alyx doesn't even moves she just stands there it was really boring.

I liked it, because it reinvigors me to map my school in Hammer.
