I'm interested to know a technique of weightlifting dumbbells which will exercise my entire arm or what techniques will exercise the highest majority of arm muscles?

“lolz y r u pstn diz on a gamz forom????!!!!!1?” (If anyone asks)
Because I don’t generalise like you, and I can't be bothered to join another forum.

Thanks, that site seems to have what I was looking for.

Weightllighting Advice

rofl i thought getting yourself lighter

It's physically impossible to train both your triceps and biceps at the same time I think

Go to a gym and get a membership, they will show you how to do things and you will learn eventually how to do things.

DisRuRbEd is right... but you still have to pay for some gyms and the free ones usaully arent as good as the others well, by the state of the machines there

It's the other way around.

Agonist/antagonist muscle groups.

What do you mean?

I mean it's physically impossible because the biceps does the opposite motion of the triceps. Like you said, agonist/antagonist.

Exactly, they are complementary to one another. Working one indirectly works the other. Not to the degree of working out the muscle directly, but still the antagonist muscle will be stressed.

Using this fact can build powerful weightlifting regimes, if you know what you are doing.

But I don't know what I'm doing D:

And I stand corrected... partially

Just think about eccentric/concentric movements (wiki it if you don't know these terms) and the different stresses you feel when going from one movement to the other.

Simple example, take a bicep EZ bar curl. Done properly, the eccentric movement can really tighten up your tricep if done slowly and controlled. Of course, most people like to flail the bar around and they don't recieve this benefit.

Some gym instructors are crappy, like telling you to do "toning" workouts, with a 100 reps on some pointless lift.

The best kind of lifts to do are compound movements, that work out more than one muscle at a time e.g Benchpress, Deadlift, Squats etc.

Here's a list of most muscles and workouts you can do to train them.

Pff, weightlifting in an actual gym isn't hardcore enough, he has to lift 3-ton rocks out in the middle of the Sahara desert.

Ahh, that's right. He's probably sitting back, chuckling to himself while he is lifting up three 2-ton trucks with his left leg...

I reccomend bodybuilding.com as well, for lots of useful information for technique and proper training.

The forums are very helpful too, with generally friendly people.

Short Recoil hasn't been to a gym in years apparently.
I've got some money saved and thinking of buying some weights or something, any ideas?

I eagerly await the obligatory short recoil ultrapost.

Bodybuilding.com

It can be good, but some of the stuff on there is so retarded.

"I was in the mall today and I accidently touched a guys hand, does this make me gay?"

www.bodybuilding.com can be very weird but it's definately a site to keep your eye on and forums to register with, i got a lot of my advice from them.

But eat healthy, train intelligently and get lots of rest. Can't wait till my new gym opens, i'll be down their at 7 in the morning swimming and hitting the ol' punching bag.

Go with free weights first. They can be used in a WIDE variety of exercises.

Start small... I reccomend a 10 pounder first. If you've not done alot of weight lifting before, you're not gonna be able to start directly from a 20 or 30 pound or more.

I have the solid dumbbells, but I also got some of the ones you can modify. Basically its a handle on a bar with large threads. You add the weight to either side of the handle, and lock it into place with metal or plastic nuts. Works great. If you want to increase the grip on them too, you can take duct tape and wrap it around a bunch so the grip area is thicker.

Go with the handle/large threads...save you loads of $$$ when you don't have to buy a whole new weight set every time you want to move up.

Not sure what you're going for, but I'll just throw this out.

If you want to get big (like a football player build), it is also important to eat alot of stuff and drink protien shakes. If you want to get cut but not big (more like the basketball player build) you need some every other day cardio exercising along with you're arm shoulder back and leg exercises.
