Weird beep while playing games

Ok this is really starting to bug me now- I built myself a new PC at the start of this year and up until about 2 months ago it was running fine. However now that I've brought it home from uni everytime I play a game the computer will randomly beep (it kinda sounds like the bios beep that means everything is running ok).
I checked for loose connections, overheating and run the PC with the bare minimum of stuff attached, but it still does it.
Then just this week while playing both the Bet on Soldier and Starship Troopers Demos it froze, looping the beeping sound and then reset. Though it doesn't do this with any other games not even the system hog that is the FEAR demo!

My system specs are as follows (running all the latest drivers and SP2)
FX-55
Radeon X850 PE
2Gb DDR Ram
Audigy 2 ZS
Asus NForce 4 Mobo
480 watt PSU
2 Western Digital Raptors

Thanks in advance for any help people can provide:D

kinda think? it would be plainly obvious if it was teh mobo? so are you sure, it could be like a heat alarm...

your computer is possessed by the roadrunner

How warm is the room? Have at least 2 case fans?
Long solid beep or a short?

I've got 4 case fans but i don't think its the temp as bios never shows anything above 60 degrees c. Its a single short beep that just occurs at random. Sometimes it won't do it for an hour othertimes it'll beep within a few minutes, and as i said the two demo's i played recently both reset the pc.
Although the reset appeared to be more predicable as it occured in the same place each time and only when i got up close to an enemy. They are the only games that do it, I can play HL2 or Dungeon Seige 2 for hours with just this beep happening at random.

Its not the beep you get when you press too many keys at once or inactive keys?

Thats exactly what I just thought!

are you reffering to a 60 degree processor temp? that a little hot.

I have a similar problem. At random times, my comp's internal speaker plays Jingle Bells.

I'm kinda freaked out.

I used to be able to make programs in qBasic that used the pc speaker to play music, was quite fun back in the day!

It happens when you press 3 or more keys at once on a PS2 keyboard. The mobo emits a "beep." Relax.

I've come across this before and it turns out that there's some obscure setting in the BIOS that if you disable, the beeping stops.

I can vaguely remember it being something to do with SATA... but don't quote me on that.

I need to open up my case and use butter knife to flip a microscopic switch on my motherboard. gotcha.

I still haven't fixed my problem.... :( I now hum Jingle Bells every single hour.
