I have two PC's, both running WindowsXP, connected network card to network card via a cross over cable using ICS ( Internet Connection Sharing ). The one connected to my BT ADSL Acatel modem is my room pc, the other connecting to it is the lounge pc.
My problem is that out of the blue we found out that whenever the lounge pc boots up ( it'll try to auto connect to the net through the network ) or use any programmes that have something to do with the internet ( anti virus updater, internet explorer, outlook, etc, etc ) will reboot my room pc instantly, without warning.
As I said, this happened out of the blue, nothing was changed, installed or modified on either pc beforehand. I've also taken steps to try and work out what could be causing this problem, these steps are as follows:
I've also used system restore to go back a month on my room pc, I then tried booting up the lounge pc but my room pc rebooted moments later. I've since removed the restore and returned to how it was.
After chatting with a couple of people they suggested it's either my ram, my network cards or my operating system. I've re-seated my ram and it made no difference and I've held off reinstalling the operating systems. Another problem I have is that the "network card" on this pc ( my room one ) is actually part of my motherboard, the Asus A7N8X Deluxe nForce2 ( Socket A ).
I've also checked Event Viewer on both PC's, the lounge PC was clean but on this PC it has this at the time of most reboots caused by this problem:
1) I need to be sure which PC is at fault. Is it this PC or the lounge PC?
2) Is this a hardware or a software problem?
3) If hardware what do you think it is?
Thanks in advance

- Turned off Auto Reboot on Error ( both PC's )
- Scanned for viruses with an up-to-date scanner - Clean ( both PC's )
- Scanned for spyware with AdAware - Clean ( both PC's )
- Looked at computer tempature - Safe ( Room PC )
- Patched from msblast. ( both PC's )

I'm hoping someone might know what's causing this or have some information they know will help me, but on top of that I'd like to ask a couple of questions.Event Type: Information
