I have a Leadtek 6800gt oc'd to 400-1100mhz, 1.5gigs kingmax ddr400, amd64 3200+. Untill yesterday i have been able to play battlefield 2 without problems, however twice now i have had this problem where the entire level will go a certain colour with the exception of a few things (moving objects and people). Kubra Dam (one of the maps, set in sunset) goes all orange, and another Mashtuur City goes all purple- it makes the game quite unplayable. Its not my temps, the gfx card is 55C under load (or just after), and CPU never goes above 45C.
Wierd problem, unfortunately i haven't got screenshots. Basicall yimagine all the terrain one uniform colour with everything else normal. Could these be artifacts resulting from an unstable overclock? Are temperatures the only indication of how stable my overclock is?

you could try backing your overclock a little down

try that first, may or may not be the problem
Make sure you have latest drivers.

i clocked down and havent had the problem since, but im getting lock ups and crashes to desktop- also happened playing hl2. The game either just locks, looping the sound over and over, and i have to hard-reset, or if im lucky, it just crashes to desktop. RAM related?

Why not just set your gfx card back to stock speeds and give it a whirl? That would be easy and tell you the problem right away. Is that what you did when you say you 'clocked down' or did you just turn the OC down slightly...?

If it doesn't crash at stock speeds, that means it's your OC. If it does the same thing, you can move on to the next possible cause. I think if it was RAM you might get a specific error like "Cant read memory at x8282.3892" or something like that.

My BF2 screen on occassion goes mostly black and locks up, but I think for me it's a driver issue. I'm on Cat 5.7 while Cat 5.8 has some BF2 fixes. I think a lot of people have issues with BF2 occassionally crashing, but if it's doing it in HL2 as well, theres probably something wrong. Sure you cleaned out your old drivers before you upgraded them? Or perhaps you've been lazy (like me) with upgrading your drivers and you haven't done it yet? Any other tweaks or changes you might have made before these problems presented themselves? Sometimes I'll make a small tweak and forget about it, and then problems start turning up without seeming directly related to the tweak.. that's when I go "ah-ha it must have gotten messed up when I changed _______ ." So if you've made any changes like that, go change them back and give it a whirl.

This sounds ungodly like my problem :P

I fixed it with new drivers *Omega to be exact...but I have ATI..*

I tried the latest drivers (78.01 i think) but yeah, it still crashes on me.
Memtest86 returned 448223 errors- so i think that could be the problem :)
I'll run memtest with just the two sticks i had before a see what happens.

try switching the memory sticks into different slots, fixed a problem for me before

hmmm, with the new memory in it doesnt even register the ram- stops after registering the cpu, then i have to turn it off at the back.
Motherboard problem anyone reckon?

Update- tried the new ram in dimm slot 2 and now that slot doesn't work either! Down to 512mb atm.
