Weird in game Error

Hello,

I bought / downloaded / installed Half Life 2 through steam.

The game works.... a bit.

At the start up screen i see little red error words floating around.
The face from the intromovie is also replaced with a big red error.

In game all npc's just stand with their arms spread wide, they don't walk, but "skip". They dont sit, move their body or anything.

They do talk, but nothing more.

I recorded the intro of the game, only without sound i found out after recording.

One guy I try to talk to at 2:52 just "skips away"each time and starts the same talk over and over without finishing it cause he skips away.

I have uninstalled hl2 and redownloaded it through steam, but the problem consists.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Could we get some stats on what sort of hardware/software your computer is running. It may help to figure out what's going on. In the meantime, right click on the game in steam > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache, since it seems like you're missing models and animations for a majority of everything.

Windows 7 home premium.(legal) 64 bit
I think motherboard is MSI MS-7636
Intel Core i3 CPU 2.93GHz.
4 Gig memory
8 Gig videocard
1 Terabyte harddisk, not by far full yet, so that can't be it.

I'll try the thing you said, let you know if anything changes.

AWESOME IT WORKS!

It just started updating again going from 14 percent to 100 in a minute, and now there are no errors in start up screen anymore but flying birds, I see the guys face in the intro movie, and the people in the train are sitting and standing normal.
