Hmm there is some weird things going on in the sky over my town right now! The whole sky lights up every 10 seconds or so and it has been going on like that for 30 minutes. I guess its thunder but i cant hear any thunder...to bad my parents have the digital camera with them to denmark so i cant show u pictures...anyone who had a similar experience?

maybe its lighting in the distance, and it isnt close enough to hear yet.

Oh yea.... but i think that was last night, ill go check.

Maybe the US is bombing Sweden or something. Maybe it's just factories. Maybe it's UFOs.

Its lightning, when I went to Colorado the sky would light up almost like the sun was out but it was midnight, turns out there was 4 storms in each direction from where I was camping and the combined lightning was doing that, no rain either or sound, was wierd.

Lightning can travel up to 10 miles. You don't need to see rain to see lightning.

shit this has to be the lightning storm of the century..it has been going on for over an hour and there is like one big lighting every 10 seconds..i know its a thunderstorm now talked to some people on the internet who lives where the storm is at...and they live like 300km away from me..this is really cool!

yup its likely the thunderstorm the north of england had earlier tonight.. for ages though I could hear it and no lightning, then that came a little TOO close, then shortly after the biggest three bangs i'd ever heard, i thought something big had blown up, never heard anything like it.

Anyhoo the point lol, It's pretty common to have lightning in the distance and not hear anything or have any rain. Dalamari is right, and I think Colorado does have it happen a lot. Indiana does, I'd see it often when I lived there, its really creepy isn't it? Always reminds me of that scene in close encounters of the third kind, with the distant flashing over the town. Creepy but cool.

Oh my god, dont remind me of that. I saw that movie when I was little and now freaky lighting like that compleatly scares the crap out of me.

Normal lightning rocks though. But no sound? I mean come on...... thats just evil....

[btw] this thread reminds me of the long and pointess fight my friend made me have with him about lightning. HE SAID.. that lighting and thunder were 2 different things...lightning didn't cause thunder... I SAID... and know...that thunder is caused by the heat of the lightning expanding the air around it to move it at super sonic speeds ( i think...at least really fast) and then makes that really freakn' loud sound. [/btw]

Yeah its something like that. Really can be quite beautiful though, even though its dangerous to the lives of computers :)

Someone up in the hills near us has a heliograph that they sometimes switch on. It's cool... lights up the bottoms of the clouds in patterns...

Nooo! You are all wrong! Forget all about the aliens and Russians! It was us, Finns! We are attacking Swedish soil with our artillery, infantry invasion will take part just a moment after our air strikes...

Pee ess: PLEASE don't take this too seriously

Pee ess ess: Wasn't there a meteor shower? I remember that I heard something about one in the news some days ago.

I live in Preston, England. I would of expected rain when I got back of my holiday, but I've been greeted with lightning storms. Lightning strikes have been as frequent as the ones down in Florida. On average a lightning strike every 5 seconds, on occasion 2 within the period of 3 seconds, it has been wild, and absolutely humid down here
