Weird message along with weird settings

I have not played Half-Life 2 single player for a while now. I have mostly been playing deathmatch and mods (JBmod, GarryMod, Strider Mod, etc..). Well, today I felt like re-playing a chapter in the single player. For some reason all my options settings are set really high, and my hardware DX level is on 9.0. Needless to say this is making my GeForce 4 MX 440 to act real slow. I can change the settings back to meduim and stuff like that but when I open the advanced options it gives me that weird message in that picture.

Also, whats the command to force it back to DX 7.0?? Or more importantly, why does HL2 think my card is a DX 9???

Thanks a bunch. Although, shouldn't this not be nessecary to do because my card is a DX7 card?

Problem sovled. It turns out that the HL2 benchmarking program made an autoexec.cfg file that had all these settings really maxed out. I got rid of that file and now, no more problems.
