For some reason, Half Life 2 does not seem to be working correctly. I cannot crouch, shoot, and clicking on the "z" key makes the game spawn Eli. Resetting the keyboard settings does not result in anything. My software is all up to date, I've tried reinstalling the game, but even the latter just doesn't seem to do the trick. It's quite annoying, as everything used to work just fine.

Can anyone be of assistance, perhaps?

Can you check your key bindings in the console? That should tell you if it's game related or not?

Well, those keep resetting themselves for no reason at all.. And I don't see how hitting the "z" key would make the game spawn Eli..

About.. It must have been about one year ago, in an electronics store. It´s not an illegal copy.

You may want to reinstall the game. Something may have become corrupted during install.

As I stated in my first post, I've already tried doing that. Verifying the game cache also didn't work, nor did resetting the keyboard settings.

Mmkay...

I'm stumped. And in the developer's console, you're unable to change key bindings, right?

It sucks, but you may need to purchase a new copy since it seems like this one is broken somehow. Maybe someone with more computer expertise would know.

Mm. Is there any way I can reset the bindings in the developers console? Maybe that's where the problem lies.

Hi Sebazzel1,

Verifying the game should have fixed this issue. I'm not sure why it hasn't worked.

Close Steam and go to this location:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yourusername\half-life 2\hl2\cfg

Delete config.cfg file. Start Steam and it will download a new version of this file automatically. Launch HL2, see if it fixes it.
