Weird Smoke Bug

Today while I was playing after stepping into the middle of a smoke grenade my screen turned completely gray (except for the hud) and it was all one tone. Even as I stepped far out it was still there (I knew I got out since I was on open ground) and it stayed even when I died and was in spectator mode. It finally went away when I respawned. This happened three times!
