So, I played through halflife2 once. Everything worked fine, a little bit of that stuttering but it didn't bug me much.
I tried to play it again a while back, and it would crash when I tried to load the level right after you get the boat (sorry I can't remember the name right now). So I tried all sorts of things, even tried uninstalling it but it wouldn't uninstall. Eventualy I just deleted the hl2 folder and redownloaded it. Everything worked fine, but once I got to black mesa east I noticed something odd.
If a NPC is talking, I can't hear them unless I look directly at them. A few people have told me that the game thinks I have surround sound when I don't, but I've changed the speaker number and audio settings around and it still wont work. Right now it's set at 2 speakers. I've looked at my audio card setting too, and it's all normal. I've even tried deleting the hl2 folder and redownloading again (it still refuses to uninstall no matter what I do, what the hell?). It's been around 2 weeks since I last tried to get it to work, but I've been wanting to play it again lately and I still can't get it to work.
