Weird texture on guns? Help

Every once in a while I get this weird texture on my pistol when Im like in a tunnel or in the dark or something, then it goes away. Can anyone explain? See picture.

My brother had the same problem on his system. He's running an ATI Radeon 9700. I told him to reinstall his drivers, and that seems to have solved it.

It's different for everyone where these weird HL2 problems are concerned. Hope that helps you.

does it do anything to the game play....because if not i wouldn't go through any hassle bout it.
