those ****ers at EB called at about 8 PM to tell me "We know you pre-ordered doom 3... but we won't have enough copies for release day due to technical malfunctions in our computers... we'll call you when we do have enough copies to honor your pre-order... We're sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for understanding."

i just called all the other stores around me... they'll have it... but all i can get out of EB is store credit for my pre-order... SO I HAVE TO ****ING WAIT FOR DOOM 3 CAUSE EB ****ED UP THEIR ORDER TO THE WAREHOUSE!! :flame: :flame: :flame:

what should i do? :( ;(
download it (warez = bad!! i know, but the given circumstances...) and then delete it when my copy comes in? or just wait it out?
 
Just cancel the preorder and get it somewhere else.

How much did you put down on it? Because if you put 10 or 20 then you can easily use that money on something else down the line.

i put all $55 on it... and i can't cause i have like $20 :(

If you only can get a store credit, you weren't complaining enough. Talk to the store manager and see what he will give you.

Just go to Best Buy or some other place on August 3/4/5. Don't warez. Warez = bad.

Mind explaining how it's bad if he's already paid for the game in full, and the developer has already gotten their cut?

Well, i'm not worried about Doom 3 because I got it from gamestop, but now i'm worrying about Half-Life 2 :o
 
Actually they have to give you your money back as long as you return the preorder items. I went through this with eb when i turned my halflife 2 into cash back in october.
 
I got mine from EB (d3 pre-order).. I payed for like 10 bucks of it.
 
i'm going down there tomorrow with a 2x4 with rusted nails in it and getting my money back or something... hopefully... they'll change their minds on their own... before i have to :devil:

Haha, you're worried? For some reason, I refuse to preorder on the off-chance some other store gets it sooner... and I don't want to be stuck on the store that gets it late... but it runs the risk of not getting a copy at all! :laugh:


I like risks, though. :thumbs: Good things.
 
Just to let you know, i belive that bestbuy will have it b4 alot of stores. Best buy is guaranted at atleast 6 bestbuys to have a 12:01 sale and to have alot of them. Also for the shipping orders for the other stores which ofcorse can be delayed... Its set to come in on the 2nd but we cant sell it till the 3rd. Are store is getting 300 copys so i dont see why yer eb wont have it.
 
Ya, Best Buy can be really good sometimes... I got the Diablo II expansion there nearly a week early. :laugh: It was so awesome playing online and there being next to no one on.
 
Its also a great store if you like going there alot, I mean, I love Best Buy so much that I can't wait for the return trip when I find out my copy has no CD-key.

Actually, no they don't. Retailers are under no obligation to give you your money back, ever. If you buy something and it turns out not to work, they must replace it with the same or a similar (But better) product. Only if they are unable to replace what you bought with a working version are they required to give a refund.

That is not to say they won't give you your money back if you complain loud enough, I just had to point it out. I used to work in a GAME (UK equivilent of EB) outlet and I used to get so ****ed off with people going "Oh you HAVE to give me my money back, its the law", when it is in fact, not.

One other thing, be polite. As stated above, they don't HAVE to give you anything back, but if you are polite, they may let you have a refund.
 
muahuahuah. Its a game dude. Just play minesweeper for a little longer. Go outside. Go fus* a person (provided they consent :P). Find a mod that needs help. Just find something to do with you measly sad little life.

I concur, for FFS wait a little bit longer. It wont kill you and the headaches wont go by bashing your head against the wall.

Yes he did get owned. Quite.
 
I've got to wait until the 23rd to play it, which is rather annoying. It's probably for the better though, since I'll be able to crank the graphics up with my x800 XT-PE :D
 
I got a $15 gift card ive been holding on for ever for best buy, so doom3 is the perfect time to use it

I think you should never pre-order a game. Wake up early, go to Best Buy at opening, and have an orgasm when you touch the actual box. That's exactly what I am doing.

Why does anyone pre-order... I've never been to a store on the day of a game's release to be told that it has sold out, not Vice City or countless other games. I remember the huge fuss about PS2's aswell, i walked straight into a store a few days after it came out and got it straight over the counter, no problems!

a game selling out on day of release? it didn't happen to me.. but it did happen right in front of me when i went to pick up my copy of Diablo2.

i should have laughed an evil mechanical laugh at the face of the guy...but i didn't have the cold heart required and felt sorry for the poor guy.. :p
 
Just thought I would say this.

Warez to get the game you have paid for = percieved support from the warez community.

percieved support from the warez community = more warez

So don't warez.

and EB turned into GAME over here in the UK, but both are still utterly crap. dont just talk to the manager, blow his brains out with the Doom3 shotgun :P
 
I so hate game/EB, their prices suck. Always order online :thumbs:
 
I agree, GAME can be pretty sucky. And I worked in one 6 months ago ;)
